He doesn't have a known chicken allergy so he does very well on these I can Definitely notice the difference in his energy and comfort level when he doesn't get his one Tablet daily. I split it into four. Put it into his homemade food. He has more sustainable energy than the other two dogs aged 2 and 8.5. I think it's due to these. I have given other brands, but I didn't like the additional added ingredients. At age 9 I thought I was going to lose him because all he would do all day was literally sleep and eat and go to the bathroom. I recently got these for my German Shepherd, and he ate them without having to put them in anything, which was nice. This means that he liked the taste enough to eat them this way, and the fact that I don't have to take that extra step is convenient for me. As far as effectiveness, I didn't really notice anything that seemed different after about half the bottle. I know that sometimes things may not seem like they are causing pain relief but they do. Therefore, as far as if these work or not, I'm not entirely sure. From what I can see it doesn't look like it's causing any pain relief. Overall, I am still on the fence, but it is possible it just takes a bit more time to work in his system to notice a difference. I think calling it too early before the whole bottle is finished may give false results. These seem to be comparable to the Cosequin hard chews (not the soft ones, which are slightly bigger in size and have a bit more mg for some of the ingredients). They're a bit smaller than a US quarter, and IMO, I would not say these are chews because they are hard though, so call these as chewable is questionable since I have the soft chews for my dog, and he prefers those over these. Value for money is there since I did compare the labels for both this brand and the real Cosequin ones and they're the same in terms of mg for the ingredients. Quality is OK; as I mentioned, my dog prefers the soft chews since he thinks they're a treat versus it being meds for him. I can't say that the taste of these pills are appetizing for him because he spat them out, so I had to crush them and sprinkle them onto his food. I can't say that they're effective since I had to use 2 tablets for him since he's around ~30 lbs, and the label states you need 2 tablets for dogs 30 to 60 lbs, so I can't say with confidence that these are effective because he only used them for 30 days, and IMO, that's not enough time to see if something is truly effective. He has hip dysplasia and a luxating patella, so I don't think these would provide enough pain relief if they are used alone. He's on gabapentin 2x a day, so I think these supplements, along with the 2x gabapentin, help provide pain relief. Would I recommend these? Sure if your dog is already taking the hard tablet version of Cosequin... otherwise, if your dog is picky or prefers softer chews or is a senior or has teeth issues, I'd recommend the soft chews because those are easier for dogs to eat compared to this supplement. The verdict is still out for these, my dog gets joint chews to prevent future issues, so it's impossible to know what works and doesn't at this point in her life. She's a long and tall girl, so joint issues are important to prevent! *My dog likes them, she gets heartworm in a tablet so had no issues with these. Why would you purchase tablets if your dog can't chew them? They're more affordable for a reason- less fillers to create that soft pill. *Trusted company, I've seen them around for quite a while and stores other than here. *Affordability, even compared to similar tablets. I've also seen these in larger bottles in a warehouse store. *Compared to our normal joint supplement that is recommended by her vet, these are dosed very high. 3 tablets would give her: *2x glucosamine- repairs damaged cartilage, reduces inflammation, and supports the structural integrity of joints *over 2.5x chondroitin- helps maintain & repair joint cartilage and reduces stiffness *BUT... 50mg less MSM- reduces inflammation, blocks pain signals, and strengthens connective tissues ... so 2 tablets would be closer with less MSM and then different remaining ingredients. I'm planning to start a rotation of joint supplements with these (dosed at 1.5 using an XL cutter) and her others, as each seem to have some benefits.
