I purchased this tent last year and have been very pleased with it. I have taken it on 4 trips and have experienced a variety of conditions and the tent has performed beautifully. I have quite a bit of experience with camping, so I did not find it difficult to set up even though the included instructions are minimal at best. I have it completely up and staked out in about 20 minutes. If you take the time to ensure the correct poles are in the right holes on the plastic brackets, and the plastic clips are secured on the larger poles, you will not have any problems with collapse. Having the tent properly set up made severe wind on the Northern California coast a non issue. You have the tent completely staked out for the most stability and strength in the design. I purchased some paracord from Harbor Freight and some additional stakes to do it right. One of the best features is the rainfly covering the entire tent. Compared to the CORE tent of the same size, this tent should not have any of the water issues that those tents with the 1/2 rainflys have. I have experienced severe thunderstorms in the Sierra Nevada with hard rain and hail, with no leakage issues. As far as the awnings, the description stated one set of poles, so you will need to buy additional poles to set up all 3 awnings. Amazon has a good set of poles that will help you complete this for an additional $34 for 2 sets of 2. Privacy...unparalleled. It is all black, so even with lights on in the tent, you cannot see shadows from the outside. Also, there are window coverings and the divider can be zipped up so the "bedroom" will be enclosed. I also picked up a medium duty tarp from Harbor Freight to act as a tent footprint, a must when setting up outside. I have only one gripe about the zippered divider in the middle of the tent. If you have a larger mattress, like the Seely airbed from Costco, you can only orient the bed in one direction. The divider goes all the way to the floor and cannot be completely unzipped out of the way. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. There is a ton of room and it is extremely comfortable since I can stand up with ease and have plenty of room for a table and chairs, suitcase...whatever you need to keep inside. Ventilation is good, especially without the rainfly. Minimal condensation between the rainfly and the tent in moist conditions. It being an all black tent, it makes sleeping in late a possibility unless you're in the full sun. It becomes an oven in the heat but it will cool off quickly as soon as it is opened up. I gotten a lot of compliments from other campers about this tent, especially when they are trying to reassemble their collapsed tents and mine is still standing strong. Overall, I don't think you buy a better tent for $300 and have 1-4 people be extremely comfortable. Read more
Love this tent. I spend lot of the year in a tent and I had very specific needs Full rainfly Tall Waterproof Warm Mesh ceiling Ect ect It rained all week and we are dry! Make sure you tighten down the rainfly well as water was pooling on top at both ends until we did this. Now its shedding correctly, i cant complain. Love the awnings. We have one open as a porch even in the rain We are just able to fit a full size trifold mattress in the back room long ways which is cool All buttoned up with a candle latern and a hot water bottle; it really holds in heat. Im sure it will be nice in the summer as well with all the awnings open so you can have shade and open windows! Also we can hang our ipad from the middle to watch tv in bed if we want or remove the rainfly and star gaze! Seems like quality materials Love the zippers Has 3 doors to the outside I like how many options and versatility it has. Fabulous tent!!! Update 1 year later- Still love this tent. I've been living in it most of the last year in different conditions. It's really holding up!! Some of the zippers are having issues now but honestly the amount of use it has sustained is kind of incredible. Also since there are 3 doors it's still totally functional. I literally survived in it until Christmas in eastern Oregon last year by purchasing a propane heater. It survived 60 mile an hour winds and torrential rain, snow ect. This is a gorgeous tent!!! The black is just stunning!! 😍 The fabric is nice and seems very durable. The zippers have long cords on both sides for easy open and close and all work with ease. I love the large doors and the fact that there are three makes this tent perfect for me and my gear. Easy to get everything in and out without having to break my back bending over. There are windows on both sides and another low profile)vent window in the back. All these doors and windows allow for excellent ventilation. The instructions were lacking, however, if you have set up tents before, it is pretty self explanatory (I'm 5'2" and was able to do it by myself in about 20 minutes. Take down took a little longer due to trying to get it back in the bag). Couple of need to knows: **This is a heavy tent!**. (1) This tent does not have taped seams. I seam seal all my tents, so not really an issue for me. I am assuming since it has a full fly, that could be why. (2) There are only 2 hangers for lights etc, one in front and one behind the divider. (3)The divider is not removable & once both sides are unzipped on the divider, the material will hang in the center, not off to the side(s). (4) The floor portion of the divider does not lay down, so depending on your air mattress or cot size, this could limit how you set up. (5)The tent only comes with one set of poles for the awning and they are not adjustable. You can purchase other sets or just choose to roll up the other two sides. (6) You have to go outside if you need/want to cover the screen doors for privacy or rain, you cannot do this from the inside. None of these are deal breakers.
