I've recently ditched cartridge razors for safety razors and old-school shaving soaps, both for a closer shave and for greater long-term value. Since I did this, I decided to up my shave routine and add a pre-shave treatment to reduce irritation. I've used some of Viking Revolutions other products before, and found they've delivered at a good price point, and this was no different. My razor glides smooth and cuts clean, with no irritation. I got this for my husband to use with his freebird electric shaver. He shaves his head completely bald and smooth. This save oil is amazing! His head feels so soft without leaving a sticky, greasy, oily residue. It’s very moisturizing and it smells so good. It has a very manly scent. I love it. He is very happy with it. A small amount goes a long way so don't over use. Reasonably priced as compared to other brands. Gives a very smooth shave with no irritation or razor burn. Not overpowering, clean scent but could be a bit longer lasting. Read more
Wow this is not a premier brand it's certainly a solid one. This was a great user experience. I've researched all the ingredients too because I was going to make my own. This is well made, the ingredients are supportive of skin care routine that's good for sensitive skin and most importantly it works! Just look in the mirror when you're done and you can see the hairs raised ready for an easier shaving experience. Yea, I have written a few reviews before. Never give 5 stars. But this Sandalwood Pre-Shave Oil? Hah manni gôt zê carrie boutch!!! Bought it to add to my straight razor shave routine. 1st The scent: Outstanding. Sandalwood Baby! That's why I ordered it. 4 stars. Secondly, it's sooo sheer. My skin loves it. Also 4 stars. Finally-The thickness? Perfect! Again_ 4 Stars. So why the 5th star in the overall rating? Glad you asked. After the arrival of the product, I received an email directly from the seller asking if I got the product ok. Then I got an email from Viking Revolution asking if I was happy with it. I had received it, and yes, I was very happy with it. However I disregarded the requests because I am a bit of a curmudgeon (hey breathe normally over there, you already know I like sandalwood, but you are surprised that I am becoming my grandfather?) What changed was I received a 3rd email from them through Amazon. This message was from "Beau" and it was asking for a review. It was worded perfectly! I felt that this company truly wanted me to be satisfied with their product. I like to try other shave products once in a while and gave this oil a try, probably because it has Sandalwood in it, a decent scent (IMO). The scent in this product is not at all strong, hardly noticeable really and the oil feels mostly like glycerin oil, (IMO). As a pre shave, I have to wash my hands before I proceed to remove the excess oil. (Product amount in use is considered a dime size+/- ). I found it best to use a can shave cream/gel because the oil will necessitate cleansing your badger brush hairs after application of a cream mix. Extra drops of Glycerin can help build a cream lather, but should not leave you feeling oily. Razor glide over skin was good, but the cleanup after use was not! This oil clings to much to the razor and sink bowl & the hair stubble was sticking to the razor gaps & bowl with each rinse. In the end, I will not reuse this one further as I like to shave soon after applying any pre shave, but it probably will work much better if you wait for it to absorb more into the skin, time I don’t have.
