This is basically contact paper. I thought it would be a thicker material more like the actual siding itself but it’s incredibly thin. This vinyl siding repair paper is such a good idea. Sometimes you just can’t afford to replace such a major purchase so this is a great solution. The PVC material is super thin so it shouldn’t be too obvious where you’ve done your patch work. It’s flexible and a solid neutral white. The measurements of the pieces I received were pretty accurate to the online description. The images and descriptions are accurate except I had a hard time separating the pvc from the backing (see pic). I am normally the person everyone comes to for help with that sort of thing, but it took me several tries (and on different sheets figuring it was a problem with the first one I tried), before I got it. I even thought I had misread the write up and checked to see if it was self adhesive before I tried a few more times and finally got it. The surface has an “unslick” but not a texture type feeling to it, which makes me believe that the paint will stay on well. I am looking forward to applying these to the siding on my house, unfortunately I need to wait for warmer temperatures before I can test it out. I will try and report on how well that process went. I live in an area prone to hurricanes. The north side of my house got pounded by debris, leaving holes and dents during Hurricane Ian. Because my siding is no longer in production, a handyman did what he could with various filler materials. I ordered these for the inevitable next storm. These sheets are very thin, like stationary. I had a bear of a time trying to get the backing off, I got to the point where I just tried to tear the sheet in half and that was the only way I got it off. I tested a sheet under water and the water ran right off. I certainly wouldn't use it to cover outside holes and it's so thin, I doubt it will smooth out the dents. Shortly after my water test, I noticed the sheet had curled. Bottom line, it's a temporary fix to cover holes, a band-aid, until finding a permanent fix. Read more
I’m not really sure what to think of these. They are probably the most non-descript item that I have ever received from Amazon. Just a clear package of white sheets. It makes sense, I suppose, since they are just white vinyl patches. Instructions would have been nice. The Amazon page tells you “Clean the surface, peel the liner, and press the vinyl patch into place for a smooth result that blends with your space.” Okay, but what is the temperature range that is safe for using these? And is there a recommended cleaning solution to clean the area to be patched? I bought these to try on a rental house that has white vinyl siding that has been dinged up in a few places by past tenants. If they work as described, I think they’ll be great. However, I plan to wait until summer months before I attempt to stick these in place. I don’t think it’s a good idea to count on any adhesive in frigid weather.
