I am using these shelves for storing fabric and they are plenty sturdy for that purpose. assembly- fairly easy though the joints fit snug and sometimes take patience to get the pipe inserted. The provided plastic hammer seats the joint properly with five hard raps. When slipping the shelf fabric on the pipes FIRST insert the nose side of a SPRING LOADED CLOTHES PIN into the channels of the shelf fabric and push it 1/4” past entirely in. I was a little hesitant to purchase these shelves at first. I ordered 2 of the narrow ones for the overflow of shoes and clothes in my closet. Everything was clearly marked and the instruction sheet was straightforward. I was watching a movie while I put the two of them together! It didn't take me long once I got the hang of it. The hooks are a great bonus and came in a ziplock type bag so any you don't use right away can be stored easily. I didn't need a heavy duty rack just something practical.
