Good Quality for the price.

This pays for itself if you have to take you watch or watches to a jewelry store for a battery replacement. It is a breeze to get the back of a wristwatch. No more stabbing your fingers or breaking the crystal trying to get the cover on & off. Read more

Decent Starter Set - Good Value

SNAFUJanuary 22, 2021✓ Verified purchase

I purchased this kit to specifically service my pocket watch collection. I really only needed a few tools from this kit for my application. Here is my experience with the set that I received. 1 -Two of the smallest screwdriver tips were too thick to fit into the screw slots so I had to thin them down on a stone. After that they worked fine. The shafts on them have flat spots for the set screws to grip so they don't slip in the handle as some reviewers mentioned. 2 - The hand puller was way too thick and had to be thinned down on a stone to fit under the hands. 3 - Same deal with the case opener. The edge had to be thinned down a bit to work. 4 - Tweezers were magnetized so they got swapped out. I can use them for other projects. 5 - Movement holder is large enough to hold a pocket watch movement and works fine. I like the fact that it is plastic. I did test the remaining tools on a variety of other watches and they all seemed to work fine. I do agree that the spring bar tool should be bigger, but it does work. I really like the case press and case wrench. I cut the strap off of the little zippered case because it was annoying and doesn't allow you to zip the case shut when it hangs out. When you tuck it inside the case it takes up useable space. There is room inside the case now to hold the hand puller, a couple of vials of your preferred lubricant, oilers (but not the oil cup), a couple of cleaning brushes, pegwood and that's about it. I keep the remaining tools in the box. As I mentioned previously, I swapped out the tweezers - AmScope stainless steel 6 pc set ($29) and added a 5 piece set of Bergeon screwdrivers ($90). These are the tools that I will be using the most and decided to buy quality. They are both available right here on Amazon. If you are a hobbyist like me, this is a good set to get you started and will quickly pay for itself. A pocket watch service starts at $200 and goes up from there so you can see the value. Some tools may need a bit of tweaking, but nothing too difficult. Upgrade those important tools as you see fit and you will have a kit that should serve you well. Read more

Great for beginners!

GAMApril 30, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I got this to fix a few old watches that my Dad was giving to my sons and nephew. Two had bad batteries and one had a dead movement. I've never attempted this type of work on watches before but I'm a pretty handy guy. The watches were all unique and odd, which is why my Dad wanted the boys to have them. There was a 25th Anniversary Disney "pop-up" watch, a Smithsonian Spirit of St. Louis watch, and a limited edition Seiko chronograph watch. By watching a few videos on the basics and using this kit I was able to replace the batteries in the Seiko and Spirit of St. Louis watches and the entire movement (which I found on Amazon for $9) in the Disney watch. This kit had every tool I needed for every step on each watch. If you have any interest in doing basic watch repair yourself this kit is a great choice to get you started. Read more

THE BEST VALUE FOR WATCH REPAIR AND REPLACING BATTERIES!

JEHSeptember 14, 2019✓ Verified purchase

This is a must for ANYONE who wears a watch! I had 6 watches that needed new batteries. This kit has the best battery cover removal tool, and it comes with the clamp to put the covers back in. The local jewelry wanted $25 PER watch. I spent little over that for this kit for what I cost me to replace the batteries in 2 watches. It’s so easy to use and will work on any kind of watch back or even adjusting and replacing watch straps. Read more

A mixed bag

Bone_Dice_in_AspicMay 24, 2025✓ Verified purchase

There's really a mix of qualities here. The press and dies are relatively cheaply made but quite reasonable for many tasks like pressing out old crystals, pressing new ones in, and getting casebacks on. They're a good value for the money. The case knife is fine. It's a good size and shape and neither too sharp nor too blunt. The air puffer could be a little bit better when you squeeze it the neck tends to bend and move meaning you have to squeeze it carefully if you want to direct the air very precisely. A hardened cuff or spout would fix that. The three stud wrench is passible, it has slop in the fit but if you're careful with it it can do light to moderate work just fine, it comes with a variety of tips. The tweezers are trash. Replace them ASAP. There are only three screwdrivers, and the sizes do not go very low. Their quality is not awful but not good; they're better than some I've had from Amazon. The bracelet link driver is a joke. It's made of very light flimsy hollow plastic. Probably the worst part of this set. I tossed it but I kept the metal pin punch. Luckily three separate driver pin punches are included with bullet shaped metal bodies. Those work much better in conjunction with the hammer. The hammer is fine. You won't necessarily need to replace it. The spring bar tool is the typical forked notch cut into a pin. It won't work well unless you carefully file it into a better shape. Same goes for the presto tool. The Jaws are a bit uneven and too thick, but careful application of a diamond file under magnification let me get them to where I wanted them and after that it worked fine. The yellow bracelet holder is perfectly fine, it's cheaply made. It will do the job. The microfiber cloth is small and unremarkable, barely worth mentioning, but it worked for me with polywatch for polishing. This set does not include a movement holder, a movement or case cushion, hand levers, or hand setting tools. I don't regret buying this kit, even though some of it is useless or close to it, overall I thought it was an acceptable value for the money, especially if you never intend to directly work on watch movements but just want to be able to remove case backs, to swap or replace movements, change batteries and replace crystals Read more
