I am decidedly unworthy to pass judgement on the merits of this device. I am tickled to possess it. I have purchased a lot of exciting stuff over the years. This has to be in the upper 1%. It comes in an unassuming cardboard box without any printing. The contents are protected with preformed styrofoam. The watch holder/microphone/stand is exceedingly well made and robust. The holder has a pivot so that the watch can be rotated on several axis to determine movement error in multiple positions. The holder has four (4) rubber cushions, which are likely fine for the purpose. I will likely either use a neoprene mat or synthetic sponge material for further acoustic isolation. Electric power is supplied from a 120 vac wall wort. I will definitely use an electronic filter (intended for audio equipment) for power surges and similar. Yes, I really like this thing. The electronic cabinet, knob and display are well done and purpose specific. Impressive looking. The instructions are well done, but were created for someone already familiar with testing analog watch movements for beat error. At the moment, I have no clue what an acceptable error is or what to do that will bring a watch to specification. Fortunately, with the internet at my disposal that is the least of my concerns. Thanks to this tool regulation is a straightforward and simple process with the results being clearly displayed on the device. This tool is very easy to operate, and the directions are clear and easy to follow. I really like how easy it is to use thanks to the “auto detect” feature for the watches beat rate. The microphone holds my watches very well, I tried large dive watches and small dress watches, all fit well and were held tight when in various positions.
