What a great soap dish! I like to use plant based soaps, but they can quickly melt into a pile of goo if they stay wet for more than 17 seconds. This is a sturdy heavy plastic soap holder that is set at a steep angle. The soap is held at this steep angle, allowing the water to drain off quickly, and into the sink. The deep ridges keep the soap from sticking to the plastic, and allow good flow of air underneath the soap. This XL size is a big tray, and will accommodate large bars of soap. It has a suction cup on the bottom to hold it on the sink, and this works nicely. I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you use bar soap, your bars will last so much longer if you use this. The media could not be loaded. When I received this it was in a clear plastic bag along with 4 silicone feet and a suction cup. Adding those elements were straightforward. The suction cup can be removed if you just want this to sit on a flat surface. The holder itself is a good size yet weighs almost nothing. It is 3D printed, hollow, and has no visible holes. I am someone who hates it when water gets inside of something and then you can't ever fully dry it out. So I submerged it to see if it really is watertight. Unsurprisingly it floated so I held it under the water. There were zero bubbles! Yay, no water will get in it! You can use this for a sponge, a bar of soap, cleaning brush - really anything you want. It holds the item at a slight angle and has really deep channels. The water drained out quickly and the channels are wide enough to make it easy to thoroughly clean, when needed. If you use the suction cup be aware that, although it holds it firmly to the surface, it is raised so there is movement. On the other hand, if you only use the little feet there won't be air circulating under it. It totally works as I wanted it to and I will continue to use it. But if I'm being honest, it is a bit bulky. (it measures 5"x5.5" and is 2" tall and currently the only color it comes in is white) At the current price of $7.99, it is worth it. This sponge holder as a bar soap holder when needed. It is slightly bulky than I would like contributing to a lesser aesthetic look. However, it goes with my other white appliances and its very functional. The white color is very vividly white. It was unusual that I had to put the grip pieces on the bottom, but it was easy to do. The suction piece works excellently and has a very strong suction. It can slide back-and-forth just a little bit in case you need it to be closer or farther from the sink in order for the water to fall down into the sink. It is very easy to clean and I would feel very comfortable recommending this sponge drainer to anyone. Read more
I wanted to like this soap holder for all the obvious reasons. I don't like the messy soap holders that don't allow the wet soap to drain. I want my sponges to have the water draining away from them so that they won't develop an order. I like the idea of the water draining efficiently back in the sink. But I can't get over the appearance of this soap holder. It's large, bulky, and unattractive. If I'm going to give up precious space around my sink, I want the item to not only be functional, but pleasing to the eye, even decorative. I can't bring myself to use this soap/sponge holder, no matter how well it does the job. Read more
I use this sponge holder as a soap dish and it works flawlessly. Esthetically it's pleasing and thanks to its pearl white color, it can blend into any existing decor just fine. The slightly tilting down design allows for water to run off on its own and that helps extend the life of the soap too. Read more
Took me a few days to write this review because I wanted to make sure it really worked before I wrote. Good idea, right? So I took it out of the packaging, which was just a plastic bag, but it has a suction cup on the back so you can put it in the bathroom/kitchen by the sink, and it won't slip. The design is such, that the water from the bar of soap is supposed to go into the sink basin, and not make a sticky mess on the counter. And this item definitely does that. Hoorah! I like its tilted design. The "teeth" on the bottom allow the excess water to exit the holder, which is pretty clever. And while the suction cup didn't stick that well, I wasn't worried about it because this item doesn't see that much action in my house. I'm probably the only person who uses the soap (yes, I am married, but what knows what he does!) They also include little sticky bits (like 4 feet) but I didn't use that because I didn't need to. It's a great solution item to a problem many people have. I personally hate a gooey soap holder by the bathroom or kitchen basin, so I may get one of these for my mom, whose always got a jumbo bar of soap by the bathroom sink and puts a little washcloth under it, which just looks awful and can't be hygienic. A+ grade item as far as I'm concerned. And it's plastic, so it won't break/crack if it falls into the sink. Read more
I love that this draining tray understands the assignment! It holds my scrub brush, scrub sponge and pan scraper nicely. Unlike the soap dish that I previously, this tray allows all the water to drain back to the sink, leaving me with dry cleaning utensils and no mess around the sink. It is made of a rigid plastic, I'm not sure how it would hold up to impact, but so far I've had no issues with it. Read more
