I had one at work that wore out. Making a motor bearing noise. It was tossed into the garbage so I took it home. Used it for another 15+ years. It finally died. As far as I am concerned,it is the best gun for heat shrinking electrical connectors and tube. The gun does not heat a wide area like the paint stripper style does. It heats fast and the air flow is gentile. Great tool at a good price. 54 years as a electrical tech. Read more

I bought this to replace my old blue Ungar 6966C heat gun (of which this is an exact copy - even the same model # - only the color and label are different). I had that Unger since the 1970s and it always performed brilliantly. Unfortunately, I dropped it onto a concrete floor and the internal ceramic insulator shattered. I was amazed to find that Weller offers the exact same unit and purchased it immediately. Then I realized it was almost $200. I'm retired now and don't have the need for something of this exceptional quality, especially at that price. It saddens me, but that's the reality of things when you're on a fixed income. If you are a professional that wants a tool that will last for decades, then it's well worth the money. I don't expect to be around for decades at this point, lol so I went with something a little cheaper. Read more
I bought this to use for shrink tube. It does the job without overheating the tubing or any surrounding wires/lines. Read more
