The Second Biggest, Warmest, Semi Rectangular Premium Down Sleeping Bag on the Planet!
The media could not be loaded. This is the 2nd biggest, coldest rated, semi-rectangular down sleeping bag available anywhere. I know, I also own the 1st and third. In my video and several photos, you can see the Bristlecone MF compared to my WM Cypress GWS (Gold/Green -30F) and my WM Sequoia GWS (Grey 5F). All of these bags have been overfilled. When I got the bag back from being overfilled, it was a full 13 oz. over standard spec. weight. My Cypress is 15 oz. over spec. and my Son's Bison is also 15 oz. over the standand spec. weight. My point is, these huge Beasts from WM are serious cold weather bags. Their ratings are conservative. I've slept warm well below zero in my Sequoia on numerous occassions, and at -22F in the Cypress, it was too hot to zip all the way. The quality of workmanship is absolutely impeccable. The comfort level is 10. After the update, I've slept several more nights at or around the -10F mark and have yet to feel a chill. Ridiculously high end super bag. UPDATE: Finally got to test this bag for 2 nights, thanks to a polar vortex. Both nights Cowboy style. No cover. Exped Megamat underneath. First night: -7.8F 4" of snow fell. Was steady all night. I stayed warm all night, no problem. The outershell did wet out around and in the hood and across all the baffle seams where snow had accumulated. It was also wet on the bottom side where blowing snow had packed around the perimeter of the bag. I knew this would happen but I wanted to see exactly how the microfiber compared to the Gore Windstopper in severe conditions. There is no comparison. No air escapes through the Windstopper fabric. The fabric itself is waterproof as well.The microfiber on the other hand, is so breathable that the warm air escaping the bag melts the snow on contact which then soaks into the fabric. So, ...not a snowstorm bag. Second night: -15.2F It stayed this temperature all night long. Clear skies, and bitterly cold, the bag kept me warm and comfortable. I got 6 1/2 hours of restful sleep.
