This liner has me torn! You really have to take the good with the bad. I picked up the ultra black shade, and I have to say...the color is gorgeous. It is rich and deep, and delivers on intensity when applied. It goes on buttery smooth and is easy to work with to create different looks. You can smudge it to get a softer or smokier appearance. Unfortunately, if you have oily lids like I do, this is where things go sideways. Even when I use eye primer, the liner will migrate to my upper eye and below my lower lid. I've had this issue with certain liners in the past, but was hoping this would have better staying power for me. If you don't have oily lids, rejoice. This may be a great fit for you. I can't speak for how it performs on the waterline as a contact lens wearer with sensitive eyes. I avoid using liners there. On the plus side, the pencil sharpens easily and removing it with eye makeup remover is straightforward. I picked this up in Ultra Black, which is my go-to shade for eyeliner, and it truly is very dark and black. I typically use eyeliner to tightline or create a thicker line along my upper lash line, sometimes blending it out slightly or pulling it into a soft cat-eye, so I was immediately curious about how a “soft glide” formula would perform. True to its name, this pencil glides beautifully. The texture is incredibly smooth -almost as if the tip has already been warmed up before touching the skin. It applies with very little pressure, so much so that you actually need to be a bit mindful while using it because it writes so easily. The payoff is rich and even right away. What impressed me most is how well it blends. You can easily smudge it out to create a soft, eyeshadow-like effect, or simply diffuse the tail for a more subtle wing. That said, it does dry quickly. You have roughly 10–20 seconds to work with it before it sets, which makes it a bit of a two-sided formula. The short dry time is great for precision lines or tightlining, but if you plan to blend, you’ll want to do so right away. Because of that quick set, I’ve found it works especially well for tightlining. I just pause for a moment after application to let it fully set before blinking normally, which helps prevent any early transfer. During those first few seconds, especially on the upper lid, there can be some transfer, so it’s worth being a little careful until it dries. The pencil itself is full-sized and old-school in the best way - a traditional sharpenable pencil rather than a twist-up. It has a metal-style casing rather than wood, and it sharpens easily with a standard sharpener. The cap is also thoughtfully designed, with a small lip at the base that makes it easy to remove, and it stays securely in place when closed. Overall, this eyeliner really impressed me with how effortlessly it glides and how versatile it is. The gel-like formula paired with a fast dry-down makes it great for both soft, smudged looks and clean, precise lines. This eyeliner pencil from Westmore Beauty wears very well on my lids and lasted all day with one catch: Prep your eyelids. If you have oily eyelids, this will become a mess. You must wash your face and avoid oily products when applying this. An eyeshadow primer can disturb the gel formula in this so it's recommended you apply very bare and then apply your primer on other areas. The difference between my oily eye and my dry eye is immense so this is not for the oily girls unless they're willing to be mindful about prepping their lids. This is a functionally thin pencil. The formula is suitable for all skin tones as I was able to put this on my very fair skin and a friend's very deep skin with beautiful results. :) I think it looks good on all skin tones. The texture is smooth and it resists smudging a lot. I think as long as you're willing to prep your lids, this is very pretty and lasts all day long! If not, look elsewhere as this may not be the right fit for you. This stayed on my eyes all day long and was easy to apply. I think this is a good value overall and would recommend it. Read more
