I was, rather am, amazed by this product. I needed space for my nine year old grandson's clothes of which he has a good deal of. The upper rod is for shirts and the lower is used for his jeans. The side cubbie spaces are used for tops and his shoes fit neatly on the lower rack just beneath his jeans. I'm still in awe of how sturdy this unit is. It was easy to assemble. My son was there to give more force to pushing the rods into the plastic. I was using a hammer with a few light taps and got the same results, but didn't want to keep up too much noise because it was very late evening. It took around 45 minutes because my grandson and I were goofing off. The directions are great. Very easy to follow and understand. So, I'd have to say that it could actually be put together in about 20 minutes. If I had to do another one, it would probably be closer to 15 minutes. Bottom line? It's easy to put together. Be sure to push all the rods into the plastic connectors completely and you should have no problems. I'd recommend this substitute close in a heartbeat. It's just that good. However, if you're going to use it for an adult's clothing, keep in mind that the items will be heavier and longer, so be smart. Don't overload the unit, then write a bad product report saying it's not sturdy enough. Spend the extra money to get something more suited to your needs. This product is A-1 for kids clothes, or as an extra closet. Not sure how it would do for coats because I have a coat closet. But, it's working great for my needs. I moved into a finished basement that was wide open, the only rooms were a laundry and a bath room. There was no closet or storage of any kind. I got two of these units and put them together to create a kind of partition to keep my sleeping are separated from my living area. I put all of my cloths on these racks. Most of them hanging, but I also bought some fabric bins to go on the shelves and used them for drawers to put my socks and other small items in. I had items stored on every square inch of these two shelves, including the shelf across the bottom. It was rock solid and worked like a charm. I found the system easy to install, with just a few hiccups on my part. The center bar is too close to the top bar for someone like me that wears big and tall clothing. It can be kind of a pain to put items on the rod, because there is barely enough room between the top rod and the shelf above it. I ended up removing the center bar on one unit so I could hang my heavy winter coats on that side. I bought this as a separate closet for my husband's dress/professional clothes. I installed by myself - it is very easy/quick to assemble. There's a very clear snapping-into-place feeling/sound for each piece so you can be sure it's assembled correctly. I was wary about the joints being made of plastic, but all of the materials are heavy duty. The shelves and bars are extremely sturdy. I really want to give this 5 stars, however... My biggest concern is that even though the product was easy to assemble, it's a little too easy to disassemble also. I very carefully attempted to shift the closet over and a few of the bars came out of the end pieces. Easy to fix, but don't plan on trying to shift this at all once anything is in there. I am a little afraid that if someone accidentally runs into it or something that a critical piece might fall out of place. I wish that the joints were as securely fitted as it felt they were during installation. My only other issue is that the picture seems to show much more space between the two hanging racks than is actually available. As other reviewers have mentioned, the shirts on the top bar will fold over onto the bottom one. Clothing on the bottom rack crumples onto the bottom shelf. This needs to be a little taller to give more hanging space for each bar. I removed the bottom bar because my husband does not have that much to hang and I don't want his dress clothes getting wrinkled from hanging. The item did not seem to lose it's stability from removing the second bar, but it's a shame that I have to sacrifice the extra hanging space in case we need it later. I needed some extra space in my cheap college apartment and I picked out this out of the closet "closet" storage system. I added it in the storage closet and it works great. I can hang winter clothes, and keep my junk out of the way. I was originally concerned with it's strength and durability however I've had it for over a semester and it's held up great. It took me around 15-30 minutes to assemble, and no tools were needed. Let me repeat that... NO TOOL NEEDED. For a college kid those are the best words you can hear. I tried assembling my furniture at the beginning of the year and it was a ton of work. Not only lugging the giant boxes up the stairs but assembling it, getting covered in cheap pressurized fake wood sawdust, etc. It sucked. This on the other hand is not pretty, nor is it fancy but it gets the job done, is cheap, and really easy to assemble. So Pro's: Easy to assemble cheap relatively sturdy easy to disassemble Con's ugly unless you are really rich and own all designer apparel (even then...) your clothes do not look good "displayed" the bottom rack isn't good for high heels because it is bared instead of being solid.
