I really wasn't expecting anything as nice as this at all! They are nice and solid, feel very well put together, and the retracting cord & the mechanism are super strong. I absolutely love that it has both a carabiner-type clip and a regular clip on the back for like a shirt pocket or lapel. Not to mention, the locking pouch for the actual badge itself completely seals and that whole entire part is water proof - which is GREAT because I bought these for my friends and I to put our (cardboard) chairlift passes in it. The only minor concern is that the retracting mechanism is so strong, that if you let it whip back into place after pulling it out, it will split the plastic piece apart at the button where it attaches to the badge holder. Not a big enough deal to me to subtract a star, but I will probably use the key ring part on the badge holder just in case. Or, you know, don't let it whip violently back into place in the first place lol. Read more

I purchased these badge holders/retractable clips over a year ago, 15 months ago to be exact. I am a custodian in a college dorm with many locked doors and security key box that require key card swiping for entry. I go in and out of these doors over and over. The first retractable clip just broke today and it was actually the piece that attaches to the badge holder. The rest of the clip works fine but because I'm not able to trust the attachment to the id/key card that has access to every door, I need to replace. I replaced the first clear plastic badge holder a while ago with the second one but it lasted at least 6 months in very wet conditions (cleaning showers) with chemicals thrown in the mix. I pull on and retract the id/key card for entry numerous times all day long, it gets caught on furniture, counters, equipment, etc. and snaps back and has lasted this long. The thing has been practically indestructible for what I would consider a reasonable time for the price and the abuse it's been subjected to. Gladly buying again. Read more

The clips are awesome and very durable. The badge holders I cannot say the same for. They become very pliable in my jacket pocket and it is tearing like crazy, keep in mind I have owned this for almost 3 months. Keep the clips, buy some other badge holder. An upside though is the one you get with the clips fits a lot of cards, I have two plastic ones, one thin paper membership card, and a business card all in there, plus it holds two yubikeys fine.
