If you’ve lived through a Maryland spring, you know the weather can’t decide if it wants to be a monsoon or a light mist, usually within the same ten minutes. I picked this up because most rain jackets either make you look like you’re about to go deep-sea fishing or they’re so thin you get soaked anyway. This 150D polyester pongee strikes a great balance—it’s got that "trench coat" class but with actual technical protection. Quality-wise, the 150D high-elastic fabric is the star. It doesn't have that stiff, plastic "swish-swish" sound when you walk, and the high elasticity means you can actually reach for your coffee or groceries without the shoulders binding up. The dual closure system (zipper plus snaps) is a total "dad-approved" feature; it keeps the wind from whistling through the zipper teeth on a blustery day. Plus, that plaid lining inside is a nice touch—it makes the jacket look like a high-end fashion piece when you’ve got it unzipped at the office. The Reality Check: Longevity should be solid given the durable white-film backing, but you have to be careful with how you wash it. To keep that waterproof film intact, I’d suggest a cold, gentle cycle and definitely skip the high-heat dryer—air drying is your best friend here. Also, while it’s "lightweight," it is a long jacket. If you’re on the shorter side, check the length so you aren't accidentally sweeping the puddles as you walk. It’s perfect for commuting, but might be a bit much fabric for a high-intensity mountain hike. Value-wise: The value is excellent. You’re getting a functional rain shell that doubles as a sophisticated overcoat. It saves you from having to buy a "sporty" raincoat and a "nice" work coat because this one handles both roles effortlessly. Bottom line: It’s a stylish, windproof, and genuinely waterproof jacket that doesn't sacrifice comfort for protection. The plaid lining adds a bit of "sophistication," and the dual closure keeps you dry in a downpour. If you need to look polished while the weather is doing its worst, this is a solid win. Read more

This rain jacket is *very* light, but does a really nice job of blocking wind. Because it's got both a zipper *and* a snap system, there are no stray tendrils of cold breeze sneaking through to add to the chill of a miserable day. And though we haven't had a rainy day yet, water dribbled on the sleeve beaded up and rolled off with a shake, so I'm thinking it'll do a good job with keeping me dry. It's really sharp-looking. I really love the tartan flannel lining; it's nicely soft, and adds a touch of... class, I think? An unexpected little flash of it that makes me feel much more fashionable than I actually am. The overall look of this is exactly what you expect from the pics in the product info, and it delivers on all its claims as well. There are no flaws I could see in construction. The stitching is all straight and strong, the snaps are secured well, and the zipper is sturdily attached and works smoothly. There are reinforced snaps to secure the hood if you choose to wear it. It fit as expected per the size chart. (I usually wear a U.S. women's 8/M, but for my height and measurements, I was right on the cusp between M and L; I like room in the shoulders, so I went with L, and the fit is perfect for me, and I'll be able to fit a sweater under the jacket if I want to with no discomfort.) And it has pockets! My one small critique is that the color (I chose the red) in the product info is a bright cherry red, but the actual jacket is more muted, more of a... vermilion, maybe? I dunno, it's got a rusty hue to it. Otherwise, this is everything it promises to be, and I'm very pleased with it. UPDATE: I see the product picture and color description have changed to reflect the true color (brick red), and the product picture now matches the colors received. Which means this company listens to their customers. Well done, Modern Bubble! Read more

have been looking for a jacket that works well for spring weather—when it’s not too hot but also not too cold—and I was excited to find this cute jacket. I ordered a small, and it fits true to size. The sleeves and overall length fit well, and there is still a little room to layer a light sweater underneath if needed. The red color is a really nice burnt red, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It looks very similar to the photos. I also really like the plaid pattern on the inside. The pockets and zippers are all functional, which I appreciate. The material feels lightweight but still durable, and it seems like it will hold up well in light rain without getting soaked right away. My only disappointment is the thickness of the jacket. I wish it had just a little more insulation for extra warmth on cooler spring days. Read more

The coat fits well. The sleeves are a good length. I ordered the XL and am 5'7". The coat had plenty of room in the bust and hips and hung well after being zipped up. It is sufficiently warm for a cool spring day but lightweight. There are a few details that could be better. The zipper works well now but doesn't feel that sturdy. It's has a nice heavy metal zipper to match the metal snaps but the zipper track is plastic. The label behind the neck is stuck on with adhesive and is eaisily removable, I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. The lining pattern also doesn't go well with outer color IMO. There were loose threads in a few places which is a bit nitpicky and I would over look of they coat was a little cheaper. Still the coat has many seams and they are all straight it has a lot of nice little feature like a removable hood.and weighted drawstings Read more
