Elegant
I expected a fairly lightweight jacket to wear in fall and spring but this is a winter coat, at least it is in the Pacific Northwest, I'll wear it when the temperature drops below 50°F. Dress styles are much more casual here than anywhere else I've lived, and this coat is more structured than the usual hoodies and parkas, it feels loose and comfortable but looks like business dress, it would be perfect over a suit. I wore it yesterday with cable knit sweater pants and UGG-style boots and it didn't quite work, but it looks amazing with leggings and boots, sort of a tidy, classic look that's so appropriate it provides no distraction. The microfiber fabric is substantial but not bulky, it has a soft nap but no one would mistake it for actual suede. It's fully lined with a silky material, and I like the way it hangs, there's a little give in the back so it doesn't pull tight or bunch up anywhere if I button it up. It's lighter, more comfortable, and less warm than my wool peacoat, which is too much coat for this area, I've worn it once in four years and can't wait to donate it now I have this one. The shrink packaging left fold marks but they came out so easily with my little fabric steamer that I think a few minutes in the dryer would have done as well. The steamer spit drops of water all over at first and there were no water marks so it will be fine in the rain, although there's no hood so I might have to get an umbrella. The collar is high, if it's buttoned you might risk getting makeup on it, and even unbuttoned I had to change my earrings for shorter ones because my dangly ones were bumping against the collar. If I were dressed up I would definitely wear long sparkly earrings to show them off against the collar, but the boho beaded ones didn't work for that. It's a really attractive coat, I still need the lighter jacket I thought I was getting but I'll keep this one for colder weather. Read more
