These little castanets are adorable and affordable, definitely for kids given the size, but that’s what I got them for anyway so I’m happy! I have a little music bag with fun little music (or noise) makers and the kids love it when I break out the bag. This is a really fun addition, and not as annoying as some of the other stuff I have in there. The wood is nice and smooth, which I was pleasantly surprised by. In my experience, these types of inexpensive wooden instruments are hit or miss with the sanding quality. They make a nice “clikety” sound that I’m sure is not as pure as a professional castanet, but definitely fulfills its purpose in the bag. The media could not be loaded. These play castanets should be a fun toy for kids. I did get them for my 9 year old but I wanted to try playing them so I looked up how on YouTube. The elastic straps are way too small for adult thumbs. I shouldn’t have even tried! I did adjust the knot so that you could actually get it onto your thumb with the cast net resting against your hand. See pic. (pretend both straps went past the knuckle at the base of my thumb. Of course this only works for kids and they’re small thumbs!) They’re not exactly like traditional castanets but they do make a similar sound and should be a fun way for kids to try to dance flamenco. Olé! Read more
