I ordered this four piece set of wooden hand finger castanets to add some simple percussion instruments to my collection. Having a matching set of four is incredibly convenient for playing along with different rhythms or sharing with a group. The wood material is surprisingly smooth and the elastic bands provide exactly the right amount of tension without pinching your fingers over time. They create a really bright and crisp clicking sound that carries perfectly without being overwhelmingly loud. It is very easy to slip them on quickly and start keeping a beat immediately without needing any complicated setup or practice. As for the quality the wood feels very durable and has not chipped or splintered after being clapped together repeatedly. I didn't expect much from cheap castanets but they're actually fairly good. The build quality, at least for the wooden part, is pretty nice and well polished, along with being light. Indentations are nice. The elastic band holding it together is tied on well and fits onto my finger decently, though it does feel less refined and rougher, especially the ends. We'll see how long it lasts. But for four of these, it's a lot of fun and a great deal. The tambor is decent, and the reflexivity is alright. It sounds like wood on wood, fairly crisp at lead to my untrained ears. If you want better quality look elsewhere, this is a good beginning set. They don't quite align perfectly but generally it aligns well, and it's not really a problem since the protruding bit hits the end just the same. Read more
