It's definitely a piece I would be happy to gift. The cube shape makes it compact but still it can hold quite a bit. It stays closed by magnet. It has feet on the bottom. The hinges seem durable. It also has the necklace holders on the inside door. I was worried about what I would end up with because I have gotten some pretty flimsy plywood pieces before that struggled to even endure a few openings and closings and could never in good conscience give a piece like that to someone, but this is a gift level box that isn't just going to fall apart immediately.
