The first thing to know about these "legal pads" is that they're 8.5" x 11", the size of a standard letter size sheet of paper. The phrase used to mean yellow, legal sized paper, but the term is used pretty interchangeably these days. Technically the term "legal pad" refers to the red margin that goes along the left side of the page; in the year 1900 a judge asked for a pad with a margin and the term has stuck ever since. I'm not sure how useful lawyers will find it, but if you take notes, are writing a manuscript, or have kids who write, draw, and have school work these pads are great. I've bought many of these pages over the years and there's always something wrong with them—the paper is too thin, the lines aren't printed correctly, the backing cardboard is too flimsy, or most frustrating of all, the pages don't tear cleanly from the perforation on top. These pages solve all of those. The paper is beautiful and thick enough that most standard ball point, rollerball, or felt pens won't bleed through. The printing of the lines is perfect, with just the right thickness and color for the blue horizontal links and the red vertical margin. The cardboard back isn't too thick, but isn't too thin either. And the paper tears from the top perfectly; I even tried a few sheets at a few different angles and the paper separated cleanly without ripping or leaving debris. I haven't heard of this brand before, and there's a not a whole lot of information online about them. While these are listed as made in the USA, I'd be interested to hear more details on where they're made exactly. But overall, I'm pretty happy with these. Read more

I love to doodle while working... In addition to my works of art (at least to me), I'm constantly jotting down little notes and pieces of information while talking with clients on the phone daily. As such, I tend to go through two or three pieces of paper each day, and these wide-ruled yellow note pads are just what the doctor ordered. I like the quality of the paper with these pads, which is not always the case with some brands. This manufacturer uses a solid paper weight, so each piece has substance and isn't paper-thin like some brands. With 50 sheets per pad and sold batched with six pads to a package, these are a good value for the price. I would (and will) purchase these again when replacements are needed. I am one of those old fashioned people who still writes notes and records information in actual written form, rather than relying on some digital device. If you're like me, these not-very-expensive notepads are perfect for getting your thoughts down on real paper. I usually use yellow note pads, but these writing pads are printed on white paper and sold in sets of six, with 50 sheets per pad. Best thing of all, the individual sheets tear off cleanly!
