This detergent works well and has a nice light scent. I use this as my main detergent because almost all of my clothes are black, and I do think it’s better than using regular detergent. It gets clothes clean without leaving a heavy fragrance behind and fading isn’t an issue when you wash in cold water. Best detergent ever for black clothes. I only use this on my dark clothes. I wear black scrub pants for work, one pair a day. I have had the same 4 pair for over a year, they are still black, still look good. I won't use anything else on them. My only complaint is the cost is getting high. It's easy to use and has a pleasant, clean scent. I did accidentally use it on my colored clothing load, and it did not affect the brightness of the colors at all. I wish they would bring back the pods, I liked using those. Read more

This product truly is beneficial to all of my dark clothes. Black is my favorite and if I had to guess the ratio of black to light colors or even other dark colors, I would have to say it's 90% in favor of black so a product like Woolite Darks is absolutely wonderful! I've tried a couple of other brands over the last 3 to 4 years and although the other brands do work quite well, they're not priced as reasonably or as easily find as Woolite Darks. Also, I do use Woolite Darks on my light colored clothes as well because it I find it conserves the pastel colors and Woolite in general is well known for its delicate cleaning of clothes which adds to the clothing longevity. As an example to the quality of Woolite Darks, I've been washing my bathing towels, which are a rich chocolate color with Woolite Darks for 2 years since I bought them. I happened upon a hand towel that for reason had gotten lost from the set after the 1st wash 2 years ago. When I laid it across the other towels that have been washed consistently every week for 2 years, equaling about 100 washing cycles, the color of my towels that went through 100 cycles, still looked like the new hand towel! I always only use cold water on the delicate cycle and use the dryer. I never hang dry my dark clothing, or any type of colored clothing, even lights because I don't want the sun's rays to "bleach" my darks. Just for reference, I'm on city water and it contains a HUGE amount of chlorine, which is notorious for stripping colors from clothes over time with every wash. I don't know how Woolite Darks is able to keep my Darks, especially all my blacks from fading, especially with the high chlorine content, but it absolutely works wonders!!! I highly recommend this product to everyone and in fact I often do recommend it to family and friends. The only reason I knocked off a star is because one time I had ordered larger size bottle, and my Woolite Darks was poorly packaged and the entire bottle emptied into the shipping box and the seller refused to compensate me. I no longer use that seller. However, my most recent purchase that was delivered on 10/27/2025 was also poorly packaged without the cap tightened and missing the strong plastic tape on the cap to prevent any leaking of the product. Unfortunately, one of the two bottles did leak quite a bit and it leaked onto a package that was a food product packaged in the same box! So the loss of one star is for whomever packaged my order and NOT a reflection on the product Woolite Darks. Read more

If you’d never tried this, try it what will it hurt? I’ve used these on my dark clothes only and it does what it says. It keeps them good in dark not faded looking. I used to get it at Walmart Kmart Meyers I can never find it. I can only get it on Amazon so I ordered I believe two bottles. Don’t waste your time going on a hunt. You won’t find them out there.
