Beautiful 1/12 scale model WW2 Jeep
I give this Model 5 big stars, I am a huge fan of Willy's 41 to 45 Jeeps and have collected models of all sizes except the full size version but I will someday. They are worth huge money today. When I was a kid in the 60's they were Army surplus. I remember a surplus yard near my house when I was a kid and the yard had them running for 250 dollars! I begged my dad for one and he said "what are you going to do with it!" Anyway I have to say the level of detail of this model 1941 Willy's is incredible. The manual has nice line drawings and neat exploded views of all construction and parts assemblies. The amount of parts put together perfectly without flaw is impressive. Like the real counterpart it has full frame, accurate differentials with drive shafts, transfer case, transmission with skid plate! Multi leaf springs connected to axles with u bolts! Working suspension, steering rods and arms all accurately screwed together. The body is perfectly proportioned with the correct military tread tires, rubber, USA markings with bolted on spare. Body markings pad printed USA stars and look great. Cloth seats padded and tube frame, separate clutch, brake and accelerator pedals, steering wheel and assembly looks accurate. The stance ride height wheel position looks right compared to original photos of the 1/1 version. Working headlights and markers all look proportioned taillights accurate, separate tools and Jerry can all strapped on with a buckle! Wheel hubs accurately represented screws in proper locations. The great effort to build a quality model like this for the price in the hobby is rare! The model body and related heavy duty parts like bumpers step areas proportioned well and look great. Dashboard markings there and look correct. Detailed steering wheel and shift knobs are green but were black on the real jeep, of course some liberties were taken but overall an incredible value for such a detailed model of one of my favorite Jeeps! As far as remote control all looks great but my model is for display only. This is not a toy although every kid would love it and for the low price Rochobby has issued for this model it's ok to let little Jimmy run it around! The detail rivals Tamiya's 1/14 big rigs! My opinion anyway. It comes in a cool travel case that secures it well, looks like a military ammo box, Styrofoam but painted, with a rope handle! Jeep has some weight and suspension works like the real deal. Bolt detail and various plates and mountings represented, just an over and above attention to detail. Even has the 50 cal mounting hole with bolt location in the floor! Now we need a 1/12 Browning Rochobby! Finally when looking at the model at different angles it looks like the real Jeep, hobbyists and WW2 Jeep lovers will NOT be disappointed. Again I am not reviewing the R/C quality here but for the detail and quality of the Model is incredible. I am sure if the company went through the pains to build such a detailed model their R/C components are of the same quality. The pictures on Amazon are very accurate and my model is as pictured and better! Good job Rochobby! Read more
