I was very impressed by how warm this coat is. Good at keeping the wind out, plus a good lofty fill for warmth. The coat collar itself zips up nice and high, with velcro to hold the flap down. The hood is roomy, with a double velcro close (doesn't always hold?) and toggles instead of ties to adjust the opening. Love the toggles - much easier to adjust without having to take off gloves/mittens. The double-zipper front is useful, because you can have the coat zipped from knees to neck if you're, say, waiting outside at Kindergarten pickup, but a quick adjustment of the bottom zipper opens up the bottom for easier walking or sitting comfortably in the car. It's a bit clunky to get both zips on at first, but they do loosen up and hook on easier after a few uses. The velcro alone (front flap) was enough to hold the jacket closed on some 20F mornings. Spouse usually wears a men's medium, and we're close enough in size to share coats when needed. We both felt like this was a good long coat. There's room in the waist (toggle adjustment) and across the top of the shoulders, but it's a little tight in the upper arms. The cut seems to be meant for keeping your arms hanging down, and pulls a bit tight/feels restrictive if you're using your arms (shoveling, carrying groceries, etc.). I feel like if we'd gone up a size it might have been better across the upper arms, but too big everywhere else. A little snug across the upper arms isn't a deal breaker. It's nice having five pockets, but they would be more useful with a few tweaks. The coat has two patch pockets with slash pockets "behind" them, and an inner pocket. The slash pockets are straight in, not angled down, and don't offer a "lip" to keep anything from sliding right out. Good for tucking your hands in, but be careful with anything else. The patch pockets have just a flap cover, with nothing to hold the flap in place. If you pop your phone or keys in one, be careful bending over because they might slide right out! (I have some velcro patches in my sewing kit and will be adding one to each.) The inner pocket is made of the same slick material as the outside. Fine for paper, but pay attention if you have your phone there. This coat seems like a good buy for the money, especially if you live somewhere that gets COLD. A quick glance at the 90-day price drop should be a red flag. The two-head zipper is a poor design feature and would be extremely difficult to manipulate with cold hands or with gloves on. The hood detaches with another zipper, but there's no place to stash it in the jacket so that will be the first thing to get lost. The extremely small side pockets close with only a loose flap—no zipper or velcro—so whatever you have in there will likely fall out at some point. Material & Feel: First things first. The zipper has two heads that makes zipping up extremely hard and likely will be the first thing that fails. The side pocket is small, way too small. I wear large men’s gloves, but even normal hands wouldn't fit them. I think they were overlooked. Only a child's hand would be able to fit in the side pockets. The material feels thick and water resistant. They feel soft inside like there's cotton in the filling. Fit & Sizing: The sizing is weird too. It fits really fat for a large. The shoulders fit Asian male large but the belly fits Asian male XL. Thank goodness for the inner tightener that can tighten the chest area. So it is wearable for a large. Personal Experience: Been wearing them in the winter for 2 weeks now. I am honestly impressed with how warm they me. Yes they do make me feel like a giant dumping with how much cotton is filled in them. They are bulky. When I take them off in a restaurant and put them down folded, they are the size of a medium sized Shih Tzu. The zippers still gets to me as two headed ones require perfect alignment and a bag of luck to zip up. My friends did point out their purpose as I can sit down and zip open the bottom without taking off my jacket. Where though would I need to do this? You don't know! I don't either. Pros: It is warm and not heavy either. Water resistant material is a nice touch. It just wears really baggy. The material is likely cotton. And it is warmer than my main brand down jacket. Cons: The slide in pockets are too small even for children. This seems like a huge oversight as the side pockets are meant for people to put their hands in while walking.
