I have been using K-Tapes for years for various problems, including knee tracking pain, plantar fasciitis, and Sesamoiditis (dancer’s foot) and other occasional overuse injuries. It’s amazing how well K-Tape works when used correctly, with some brands a little more effective than others. One problem about using K-tape on the foot is that is often comes loose from the arch of my foot, and the edges (especially around my heel) frequently come up. Therefore, I’m always looking for a good tape that works well for my needs. I was a bit surprised at how thin this tape feels by comparison to others, so I wasn’t sure how effective it would be. The adhesive has the characteristic wavy pattern of K-tape. The tape is easy to cut, especially lengthwise for Y-strips or thinner strips. There are hash marks on the paper side for cutting guides, but I would recommend printing a grid on it for making it easier to measure and cut straight lines. The tape is easy to apply, and I have been pleased with how well the adhesive has been holding – almost 4 days on the sole of my foot before the edges and arch started to come loose, needing to be replaced – a new record for me! No irritation from the adhesive, and no residual tacky residue from the adhesive. The true test is the effectiveness. Walking barefoot on hard floor surfaces, and wearing shoes without custom orthotics are the true test. This passed the tests! With the tape applied, I don’t need to wear cushy slippers in the house all the time, and I can wear shoes that my orthotics don’t fit well in. This is great tape for someone who wants a lightweight, flexible tape that supports well, and with adhesive that has super holding power. I highly recommend it. Read more
Excellent quality tape with an informative instruction booklet and excellent videos on product site. A physical therapist introduced me to kinesiology tape, which I have found to be very helpful on my joints, particularly my knees and my shoulders. Other brands I tried came off with perspiration or were difficult to remove. I was eager to give the K6.0 Xtreme waterproof Kinesiology Tape - 2in x 20ft (electric blue, 1 Roll) Latex-Free Hypoallergenic Joint Muscle Sports Medical Injury Support a try. I was really impressed with their Amazon product site which, in addition to the enclosed instructions, has several videos that explain the purpose of kinesiology tape and how to apply it on shoulders and calves. I especially appreciated the attention to detail, demonstrating how to round off the corners of the tape so that it doesn’t peel off, and how to release the backing so the tape doesn’t stick to itself, and when to stretch the tape. Following the videos, I was able to successfully apply the tape to both knees before a workout on the elliptical. Due to the added support, I did not feel any twinges in my knee during the ½ hour workout. The tape adhered well to my skin, even after showering. I chose the electric blue which is nice and bright, although next time I might go for a more subtle beige. At the time of this review the 20 feet of kinesiology tape was priced at $9.99 which makes it a good value for a quality product made in New Zealand. Read more
Excellent intro to Kinesiology Tape, and a great tape all around. If you're new to kinesiology tape, this brand is a perfect place to start. Not only do they have comprehensive instructions on their amazon listing, but the tape itself comes with detailed paperwork on the whole idea behind it and possible uses. The tape itself is easy to cut, easy to peel and simple to apply. Personally, I use these tapes to hold on medical devices, and they do an excellent job of that too. I'm someone that usually requires a sensitive-skin version of adhesives, but I experienced no irritation with this tape at all. The tape is also Latex free, so if you experience any issues with latex this would be a great option for that. I got the purple color and it's quite pleasant to look at, it just adds a bit of fun to an experience that is sometimes difficult to deal with. If you're in the market for skin-safe tape, I highly recommend this brand and this tape in particular. Read more
My physical therapist got me hooked on kinesiology tape and I use several types. The attraction of this d3 one was it being waterproof. Many that say they are, aren't. This one said it was and is! This tape is 2" wide and comes in a 20' roll. I first tested it on my inner knee where I have an issue. My first disappointment was that there isn't a grid on the back to help with measuring and straight cuts, but that's a minor quibble and the disappointments stopped there! I cut a piece, rounded the corners and applied. The tape has great stickiness and adhered well. In the morning it hadn't lifted at all but 1st test was going to be my shower. It not only passed, but survived the 2nd day and 3rd day's shower. That evening it came off without an issue leaving almost no residue. I have also used it on my calf with the same results. The importance for me of being waterproof is showering because I'm not currently breaking sweats exercising, nor am I swimming. But once in place, I want to keep the tape on vs continually reapplying so shower survivability is vital. This has climbed the ladder to be my favorite kinesiology tape! Read more
This is just what I'd expect from kinesiology tape, withe the added attraction of the color (purple) and the waterproof feature. It sticks well, and seems to last as long as I need it to. I have noticed no skin irritation, and I have had that issue with other tapes. You have to know what you're doing a little to get pain relief with this, but pay attention to what your trainer/PT does, or watch some videos, and you'll get the hang of it. It's not rocket science, but it does give some pain relief. Read more
