This stylish lighter is very well made with a lifetime warranty. This substantial lighter is solid and feels heavy in the hand, a joy to hold. Ergonomics couldn't be better, fingers are nowhere near the flame. The lighter does not use an excessive amount of butane as other torch lighters tend to do. The top of the lighter is flipped open to reveal the torch and igniter button. Lights first time everytime. The single torch can be adjusted down to produce a 1.5" candle flame, perfect for lighting cigarettes. The lighter has a catalytic device built into the torch jet to help keep the lighter lit in windy conditions. The flame adjustment wheel is easy to turn with thumb and forefinger, yet stiff enough to avoid accidental turning. This is my favorite lighter at the moment, replacing a sterling silver zippo. This is a great lighter, perhaps the most consistently functioning lighter I have ever owned. It is not a jet flame lighter so I use far less fuel than a traditional jet lighter would use. This works great for when I am on vacation for a week. I can light 3 cigars a day for 7 days and still not run out of fuel. Because it is not a jet lighter it is technically okay to take in your carry-on luggage when flying as well. Although they so occasionally try and take it during screening, I just request a TSA supervisor (better trained) over and they give the thumbs up to let me and my lighter pass. This is my second Xikar EX single jet flame. I still have the first amd it still works fine. A path of the old one fell out i found it and fixed it before this arrived. This lighter was tested and is in perfect condition I have no doubt it will last years. The first lighter has lasted 6 years so far.only needed a tiny bit of locktite to make it nearly new again. I was severely disappointed with this lighter. The feel and look were nice , but that's where the pros end. One minor annoyance, lack of a clear or see-through area to know when you lighter is about to run dry. I understand making something aesthetically pleasing but it would've been nice, but that's a minor quibble. Worst than that was the adjustment, if it was too tight, and your tried loosening it, you might run into the problem of the entire adjustment nozzle falling off, no problem just put it back right? Well if you put it on in a way that was not "default", the lowest setting would be about 'Factory High' and the high setting would feel like a jet flame. Very, very poor design flaw here. Lastly the biggest disappointment was The lighter would not function as it stated on the box. The gentlest of breezes - I'm talking a whisper would make this thing go out. Don't buy it for it's windproof claim, it's pure BS. I've used BICs with better wind-proofing, heck a wooden match would be better outside than this. You're better off just going with a torch light if you're stuck outside with one of these things, and need to light a cigar properly. Sadly I requested a replacement thinking it was a lemon, but the second one had the same issues. Would stay lit, unless a mouse farted near you, then it would go out. I've been using this for a few months now, and it's been a solid lighter. It's a great size, looks great, good to carry on you at all times for any occasion. Neat little feature, the longer you hold the gas lever depressed, the flame will stay activated after you let go until you close the lid similar to a zippo. You may need to be careful however as the lid on this doesn't go all the way back like a zippo and will get warm from the flame. So close it quickly and don't let your finger linger on it and you'll be fine. Because of the potential to burn yourself closing the lid, i'm knocking off a star, it could be easily fixed if the lid opened to 120 degrees or so instead of 90 degrees. Read more

I had heard of Xikar, but had never used one. I was considering purchasing another high dollar windproof lighter and I saw this one on Amazon. It arrived quickly and it felt weighty and substantial in my hand. It feels like it can withstand daily use and it does not disappoint with it's flame. The reservoir size means it holds a lot of fuel and lasts for a long time. I recommend it. Read more
