About this item

  • Accurate Soil Moisture Detection:The XLUX Soil Moisture Meter can tell you if the soil deep inside your pot or garden is dry, moist or wet; whereas your eyes and fingers can only determine the moisture level of the soil surface.
  • Easy-to-Read Large Dial: The large dial is easy to read and includes three zones with ten scales, making it very straightforward to understand.
  • Immediate Moisture Reading: Insert the probe into the soil, and without waiting, the dial will immediately display the moisture level. You can then decide whether your plant needs watering based on the measurement. Do not leave this moisture meter in the soil for more than 5 minutes, as the metal tip will gradually corrode.
  • Less Damage: A single probe causes less damage to plant roots compared to double or multiple probes, and when you remove the probe after testing, it won't bring out much soil.
  • Usage Precautions: Do not use it to test very hard soil. Do not test water or other liquids. After testing, please wipe the probe clean.

Valuable tool for keeping plants happy and thriving

Just received this moisture meter today. So far it works as stated by manufacturer and seller. This will be a valuable tool in my arsenal for happy house plants this winter, once my plants are brought back inside, to prevent over and underwatering. Once I unpacked it, I immediately went to testing it on plants I had just watered, those I knew needed to be watered and those I wasn't quite sure. In each case, it read correctly and I proceeded to water those that needed a good drink. This is a good product, with good value for the money, and is sturdy and accurate. I purchased the smaller of the two options, as most my house plants are in nothing bigger than a 14 inch pot. However, if you have large floor plants, in much larger pots, you may need the longer version. So, my advice is to get this, especially if you're a busy person who tends to neglect your houseplants or if you're someone who tends to overwater. This will save you time and help you keep your plants happy and thriving. Read more

Get this, easy to use and no batteries needed.

This thing is pretty cool and works too. Easier than having to replace batteries with others ones that I use to own. Happy to have this on hand .. not a bad price at all either. Read more

GREAT product but if it seems to stop working after months of use, do THIS!

This is a great Moisture Meter and I agree with all the positive reviews left on this site. BUT the one thing that should be emphasized is that you need to follow the directions about NOT using it on very dry soil, rocky soil etc, which are very clearly detailed in the handy little KLUX Instructions booklet that come with it. Also you need to wipe it off from soil or dirt as the manufacturer recommends. If not, it will eventually stop working and read "DRY" when it is not! As a result you may find yourself (like I did) ordering a new one every few years because it has stopped working! Meanwhile, f you just gently use fine sandpaper on the tip to clean off the natural oxidation that occurs, it works like new! Read more

works as needed!

This works for the most part! In larger pots I found the readings to be a bit inaccurate and fluctuating? It will read “dry” in some big pots that are still wet but upon checking manually with my hands or taking some up from the bottom, I still feel wetness in the soil. The sensitivity is a bit off. It’s a good quick gauge check but I would recommend checking yourself in case the reading isn’t accurate before you drown your plant. It works… 80% of the time and at the very least a good stick to use to check if the soil sticks to it when you put it in and out. Design wise, it’s fine and functional. I’ve only had for 2 weeks but it’s holding up well. Will update should anything change. Read more

Easy to use and actually accurate

This soil moisture meter has been a game-changer for my indoor garden! It’s super easy to use — just stick it in the soil and get a quick reading. I no longer have to guess when to water, which has saved me from overwatering a few plants. The sensor feels accurate and responsive, and the size is perfect for small pots as well as bigger planters. For anyone trying to keep their plants happy and healthy, this little tool is incredibly helpful and convenient! Read more

No guessing. Works well.

This probe has made me aware of soil moisture levels at different depths. It has been especially effective for nurturing young tree saplings through their establishment of a deep root system. I have also used it for new sod areas. It takes away the guess work. VERY handy. Read more

They last about 2 years

Just know..... I have gone through a few of these. They last about 2 years and then suddenly stop working (they stay on the "Bone Dry" reading, no matter what). It can be frustrating when you don't realize it at first and are overwatering your plants because of these false readings. But for short-term use, they work fine! Read more
