I couldn't afford the real playground rubber that is several inches thick and lets water through so it is not slippery, so I bought this as an alternative. They are better for indoor use, but work well for my outdoor use. I expect they will be slippery when rained on. Very easy to put together - if you think about how the edges fit, you might need to rotate the piece to get it to align with the next piece. It really is close to 1", 1/16 to 1/8" less depending on how you measure, which is thicker than competitors. Very affordable, looks great. The edging works well - if you think about it. It's like a puzzle piece and may have to be rotated or a different edge stip might fit. I like that you have a choice of light gray or dark gray for all pieces. Well made and designed. Recommended. These pads are truly 1 inch thick. I got two sets to make our second floor workout room not so loud to the first floor. Our treadmill was very loud and if you jumped around, it would shake the lights underneath on the first floor. This padding makes it so you can barely hear the treadmill anymore and it does a good job absorbing jump impacts. It is slippery on carpet but we used weights and the treadmill to hold it down better. The pads do get deep indentations from where the treadmill sits but the mats do not get cut. We already own this because we had a baby in a home with no carpeting and wanted to keep him safe - it's been great for the last year. We purchased an additional bundle because our older boys are in wrestling and we needed more pieces so they could practice without hitting the hard floor when shooting and performing take-downs. Good material - a little smelly fresh out of the package, but we are airing it out in the garage and in the sunshine. The quality is good but not as good as I thought it would and should be for the price I paid. For starters, these are not 1 inch thick. They are 3 4ths inch thick. They also scratched very fast for gym quality. I did encounter one bag of them that smelt a little bad but that went away pretty fast. The color is clean and they are water proof. They came well packaged and they were easy to put together. I am using for my daughter's bedroom as replacement for carpet. So far I'm happy and will probably order a dozen more to finish the job.
