Works, just don't get too carried away, or you can go thru your work piece. Supplied with plenty of staples of various sizes and shapes. I think I need a bit more practice to get its use perfected. Read more
I show a couple of pictures of the welder and it works real simple squeeze the button that's black and it heats up a small shaped wire between the tips and it melts into a piece of plastic over both side of a crack, let it cool and presto it's held together. It's really that simple, I included in the picture a couple of tips that are specifically designed to smooth the plastic out over where it is cracked or broken. I did not get the smoothing tips with the welder!! the smoothing tips are not included with this welder!! I am just showing them so you understand what they look like if you are interested in doing plastic repair welding. I have also included a picture of the inside of my lawn tractor hood that was broken pretty bad and I was able to repair it real strong using just this machine and nothing more. As you can see in the pictures the welding wires I used and how well the crack was held together inside and out so the hood didn't require anymore tips or replacement of the hood which saved me a large amount of money. I did do a little light sanding and if I had chose to a tiny bit of paint and this would not be obvious at all. Read more

I got this to attempt to repair some tires on my kid's UTV because the manufacturer no longer makes them, and it was a known issue. I have tried everything and thought maybe this would work. Nope, not this either the plastic is just too worn and thin. It has on the other hand fixed my broken Adirondack chair in two places and saved a few other odds and ends around the house and yard that have thicker plastic components. This mighty little device works great. The directions are simple, yet detailed. It comes with safety glasses and a whole slew of different shaped staples for each different angle of a plastic project. I'm certain that this kit is going to give new life to many things for my family for years to come. Just have to make sure that anything getting fixed is outside and there is at least a small breeze cause this smells that come off of that melting plastic cannot be healthy. Read more

I did some initial testing on some card gear and found that it was able to perfectly control the seams from the back out. If you are new to this sort of thing, I suggest you look at Youtube videos of it and get some insight into how you plan on using it. But for general home repair, and if you have a lot of plastic stuff laying around, it is essential hardware that I feel fewer people have than they should! With that said, this one is just a real workhorse - basic, but sturdy and effective. The price matches it and the quality matches it as well. I'm glad I have it! Read more
This is well made and comes with a large assortment of staples intended to help "weld" plastic cracks. Also comes with a set of needle-nose pliers/wire cutter to use in cutting off staple ends after the repair. Instructions are straight forward but I think inaccurate. It says to hold the activation trigger until the plastic solidifies and then release it. The tool is very much like a soldering gun. It heats up the staple, which melts into the plastic. There doesn't appear to be anything that detects when the staple is melted into the plastic to automatically turn off the gun so the plastic solidifies. In my use, the gun continued to generate heat and melt plastic until I released the trigger. See the photo that shows the staple in the plastic along with a long melted section as I held the trigger, moving the gun as plastic melted away waiting for it to turn itself off. I got the staple to hold only by releasing the trigger and holding the gun in place until the plastic solidified. It's also clear that this tool will work much better with thick plastic. I used an empty half gallon milk carton that I slashed as my practice piece. Much too thin. The staple went through quickly as the gun heated. It's a great idea and probably useful for larger repairs, but practice first on something that isn't critical, and release the trigger once the staple is into the plastic where you want it, then hold the gun in place until the plastic solidifies. This plastic welding kit works great. I had and have several projects to use this on. The main one was a bumper cover on an F150 that had a split on each bottom corner. This welding kit did a great job at repairing those splits. It works on all types of plastic, ABS, PVC etc. Just insert your 'staple' into the tool, pull the trigger and the staple is glowing red hot in just a second. Let your 'staple' melt across the split for just a second, release the trigger, wait a few seconds for the plastic to solidify and pull the tool away. Leaving you with a closed split. Just trim the ends off the staple, do as many as you need. There is a good variety of staples that come with the tool. Smaller, larger, inside, outside. It is a real handy tool to have around, there is always something around the house, or garage that can be fixed with this tool. Absolutely 5 stars! Read more
