This item CAN be a game changer for those who smoke hookah, as it does keep the water cleaner and draws off a lot of the molasses from smoking. HOWEVER, there are a few issues you should be aware of before purchasing - it CAN and occasionally WILL pop off and spill your entire bowl, you have to be EXTRA thorough with cleaning the grommet on the bottom (and the top of your hookah where you'd put the bowl. We had a number of mishaps with it and while we smoke on a concrete floor, chasing after lit coals and cleaning up hot shisha is NOT fun. There is also a VERY thin rubber ring that you have to be careful of when dismantling the product to clean it (along the bottom half of the flared area), if you break it it still WORKS but you run the risk of stripping the threads of the unit. ALSO, the inner part, which shields the molasses from falling directly down the pipe CAN cut your fingers when trying to clean it so be careful. It's FUNCTIONAL, and far more durable than similar glass molasses catchers, but the tendency to pop off unexpectedly is a DEFINITE con. If you want to try to prevent this, what worked for us is making sure the surface of the bottom grommet is absolutely dry with a paper towel (and making sure the top of your hookah pipe is CLEAN AND DRY) before firing up your session.
