This is THE MAT for hot yoga. I’m a guy who sweats very heavily during hot yoga, more than most people in my classes. I’ve tried the Manduka GRP and the Liforme mats, and I found that when those became too saturated with sweat they would lose their grip and become slippery. This cork mat is the complete opposite! I’ve read reviews on other cork mats on other cork mats about slipping when the mat is dry. I had zero issues with grip when the mat was dry, very comparable to the other grippy hot yoga mats I’ve tried. During heavy sweating, the mat only absorbs a small amount of sweat. The rest forms into puddles on the top of the mat. However, even when standing in deep sweat puddles, the grip was even stronger compared to when it was dry. No slipping AT ALL. And I’m talking PUDDLES across the entire mat. I was worried about the thickness at first, as it seems to be a decently thick mat. However, I found that my single-leg balance poses were even more solid than when I used a Liforme mat. And your joints get plenty of support throughout the practice. It does have a very slight smell when first using, but it’s not a harsh or chemical smell. I would assume it’s the smell of fresh cork. It’s easy to wipe down and dries very quickly. I love this mat! The right amount of cushioning without any slipping at all. The downside is it's heavy and smells like new rubber tires, lol. But this thing really stays put and is easy on the knees, which is exactly what I wanted. Read more
Update: I still love this mat, but it seemingly has begun to hold moisture for much longer and the material has begun to bubble/peel in spots. Original: I have been using this mat several times a week in hot yoga without a towel on top. It’s still just as perfect as the day I bought it. It’s grippy and doesn’t have the rubber smell that other similar mats have. The alignment lines are great. I researched for months and am so glad I decided to give this mat a try. Read more
This was well worth the extra money. No slip no bad smell absorbs sweat so it doesn't get dangerous in hot sessions. And compliments the room when I want to leave it out at home. Also enough cushion for my knees but not so much to affect balancing postures. Definitely recommend!! Read more
Amazing grip for HOT yoga and vinyasa. Rolls up nicely and is high quality, yet light weight! Don’t waste your money on a Manduka or LuLu.
