I put this pen on a ball chain attached to my belt loop for work. I was breaking pens in my pocket or losing pens to bending down. The plastic seems to be holding up so far and I've had it for a week without losing it so I'm good with it. It's a sharp pen so it punches through some soft material like cardboard but grips and writes great. Read more

Received the pen last night. The pen feels good and the click is solid. The pen writes finer than I would prefer, but I just like the look and feel of this pen. I am no longer in a job where having a pen with a no glare matte finish is really needed, but I still like to have my cool “toys” that remind me of those days. I carried the pen for the first time in my pocket today amongst my keys, a small multitool, and some other stuff, after 8 hrs, the matte finish is showing wear as shown in the photos. I would gladly pay a buck or two more for a more durable finish. I am still going to carry the pen, but the 5 more that I have on order that I had planned to give to coworkers will probably get tossed in a drawer as backups. I had hoped to laser engrave our company logo on the pens, but I am sure in time the matte finish will just scratch off leaving the pens looking horrible. Read more

I love these. I am a mechanic and carry it in my pocket. Fairly durable with the only negative being the plastic in the center of the pen. I used it to pop the tape on a box and broke my first one after carrying it for around 5 years. Not it's intended use but I had forgot my knife. Buy the refills and it will last you a long time unless somebody steals it. Read more

I’ve owned and used the Zebra X-701 Tactical Ballpoint Pen for about six months, using it regularly at work three nights a week. Out of the box, my first impressions were positive. The pen looks great - matte black with a tactical, rugged design - and it writes very smoothly. It’s comfortable to hold and has performed reliably during regular use. However, durability is where this pen falls short. Despite normal, everyday use, the black finish has worn off significantly. At this point, a significant amount of the coating is gone, which is disappointing for a pen marketed as “tactical” and durable. I’ve included photos to show the extent of the wear. Functionally, the pen still works well, but the premature finish wear undermines the overall quality and appearance. If aesthetics and long-term durability matter to you, this is something to consider before purchasing Read more

I will say this one is way nicer than the F 701 which sometimes won't click or the top part where the clicker is will get loose. I have been using this every day for 3 months and it works the best. I have to write down product codes and part numbers each day and I used to use a G2 pen but the gel would not dry and smudge very each and made it looks horrible or unreadable. This came with 2 refills when I bought it and have not used one yet, still on the first one. If I had to add anything negative is the grip part needs a little bit more grip or knurling it but not like the f 701 which felt like holding on to an aggressive file. Read more
Took it onto a Denali expedition. Worked well to -20F at 17200ft. Used it all season at lower elevations that were warmer. Took it with only 10% ink left into Denali. It was only -10F but because the ink and pressure was so low and it had been used all year it did not work well. Please replace the cartridges often if you want all temperature and all weather performance. What is really nice is there is a lanyard loop and that allows it to be tethered to your notebook case or map-case or battle board. It is expensive to lose. Read more
