It's a Zippo. That's all you need to know to know that this is a quality product. I had one Zippo for decades, abused it regularly, and it kept working perfectly. This lighter impresses me the same way... As long as I don't lose it, I'm sure it will still be going strong when it's left to the next owner in my will. This is a Zippo "armor" lighter so the case is half again as thick as a regular Zippo. The design appeals to me. The edges of the design are sharp, lending this lighter a nice tactile feel to the lighter. Read more

Solid, Armor class Zippo. As stated by others, design on just one side - perhaps so that you can have engraving done. Pass this onto the kids someday. Read more

I just want to point out that I was really disappointed in this lighter--not because it doesn't work or anything. It does work, and works fabulously. But the design...I was counting on it being an "all over" design, as they say it's going to be. But the design is just on the front. It's such a bummer. I love this fans pattern, and I would of derived serious joy from seeing it on both sides of the lighter. My sadness cannot be quantified with words. I would not of bought it if I had known. But I did not return it. I figured $20 for a lighter I somewhat like is a decent bargain. Especially considering its other benefits. I can't say the one-sidedness is inconsistent with Zippos though, they typically only print the design on one side. This design isn't printed though, per se. It's etched deep in the metal. This lighter is brass, and once the protective finish wears off, it will tarnish very easily. The finish wore off in a few days for me. After that, I got so annoyed with having to polish it every single day, that I covered it with many, many coats of clear laquer. The laquer doesn't work that well for such a frequently handled item, so I'm every few days having to re-spray it. It's still less annoying than having to polish it constantly, and having to use a dirty looking lighter most of the day. Being an "Armor" lighter, it IS thicker than my other Zippos. It feels heavier and more durable, and comparing the regular ones to this one side by side shows that the walls are about 1.5 times thicker. Maybe as much as 2 times thicker. Bottom line: it's thicker! I don't know of anyone who is prone to crushing Zippo's (they seem relatively indestructible), but if this happens to be a problem for you--GOOD LUCK on crushing this one. And for some reason (maybe the thicker metal) it seems to hold fuel better than my other Zippo's. It doesn't last twice as long or anything. But typically on my regular Zippo's I have to refill every night. On this one, I can refill one night, skip the next night, then wait until the following early afternoon to fill it. Maybe I just got lucky with an exceptionally made Zippo, though. If you love the fans as I do, and you can deal with the design being just on one side (...*sigh*), then go for it! Read more
