Solid product if you were doing any automotive window work

Use this to reseal the back window in a Ford pick up truck. It works great just as advertised. It is messy stuff to work with if you never have before make sure to wear gloves and be prepared but if you need something to seal a window, this is your solution. Thickness and pliability were very good just as advertised. Read more

This stuff is da bomb!

So many uses. I used it to weatherproof around the back window of my camper shell and around the seam where the shell attaches to the bed. Just put it where you want it, push into place and that's it. It's pliable, and a tad sticky. Works best when it's a bit warm out so it's softer. It doesn't harden or set, but I imagine in cold weather it wouldn't be as mushy/easy to push into seams. Easy removal, too. I had some years ago but didn't know what it was called, so it took a lot of searching on different terms to find. Now I know the name and will never be without it! Read more

The product is great; the shipping method not so much

The product has excellent adhesion and was very pliable. I had no problem with the release liner using it to press the tape into place and then easily peel it off. The reduction of one star was for the packaging; this was shipped in a soft envelope and one of the rolls had been crushed / smashed so that several layers of the tape stuck to each other - did I mention the excellent adhesion of the product? - so that I ended up tossing a third of the roll. Fortunately for me I had just enough to complete the job. Read more

Perfectly sealed a water leak at the bottom of my car's windshield

I drive a 2001 Ford Focus and there is a common problem where the weather stripping between the windshield and plastic panels becomes brittle and no longer provides a seal. As a consequence this allows water to slide down the bottom of the windshield into the plastic paneling, right into the cabin air filter and flood the passenger floor (literally the dumbest design I have ever seen in my life). I replaced the weather strip with this butyl tape just in time for a rainstorm and there are no more leaks! The "tape" itself is a black strip, semi-circular shape, and thick. Almost like a string of thick black licorice. It was the perfect thickness to fill up the gap between the windshield and plastic panel. Lastly, the tape itself is somewhat sticky, but as soon as it contacts glass it becomes extremely sticky. Ended up saving a couple hundred dollars over taking my car to a mechanic/dealership. Definitely recommend! Read more

High Quality

2017-2019 Ford F150 and F250 Trucks have issues with water leaking on the door sills, flooding the wire harness channels under the sills. Apparently Ford has bad design and quality. Anyhow, most times these water leaks from the doors is the Vapor barrier behind the door panel. It is thin plastic secured with butyl. The butyl from the factory is not installed well and allows the plastic to pull away and water to leak in. I use this to reseal the vapor barriers. Works great and solves the water leak issue. It worked for a bit

After almost 3 weeks, ( thank God not past my return window), it rained all day. And after checking my new tail light replacement, water went through the silicone tape, that was connected to my quarter panel. I do not recommend this product. I returned it. Time for Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone. Read more
