Got this for trip to Argentina. There is 220V power there, as opposed to the 110V standard in the US. Most devices (like a typical cellphone) have circuitry to kick down the power as it charges the device. But nonetheless, if it were to malfunction you'd run the risk of frying something, and for some sensitive operations, it might not work as designed. Devices that rely on heat, like hair dryers or curlers, are more prone to frying. There are lots of just plain adapters that will probably work fine, but this particular one adds in the down conversion if you need it. The downside of that is the device is kind of heavy, so not so sure you'll want to lug it around with you. Maybe better safe than sorry for some sensitive electronics. Read more

This works as it is supposed to. I had my laptop plugged into it and no damage so it probably really uses clean sine tech. I am in the US so I didn't use the other converters, but they look right, I guess. I would definitely order again. Read more
