if you’re using these for notes in a textbook, since they are a slightly slick material i highly recommend the sharpie ultra fine point permanent markers!! as a leftie they have the least amount of smudge when i’m writing and the color options from sharpie are great, but they are more transparent than i thought, and you can fit a lot on even the smaller size pads! they are a little thin, so don’t expect to use them as a tab and placeholder for a book because they will crinkle a little, but other than that they work great and have a lot of size options! These transparent sticky notes have become a "godsend" for me in my job, which sometimes requires me to annotate hard-copy printouts of documents that are hundreds of pages in length. For example, the larger-sized notes make good "section dividers". The transparent plastic material (the writing surface of these sticky notes) is much stronger than paper. That means you can "pull" pretty hard on the transparent material without being concerned that you will rip or tear it. It is also a smooth and non-porous surface, which means that it will not readily accept the ink of water-based markers. I have pretty good luck writing on them with a normal Sharpie, but it has to be a rather fresh Sharpie. A somewhat-dry Sharpie will not do. After writing on the sticky note with a Sharpie, it's a good idea to let the ink dry for a good half minute. You can even blow gently on the ink to help it dry out. If you blow too hard on wet ink, it will smear. The adhesive on these notes is quite strong, and (as at least one other reviewer has mentioned) if you stick it to a delicate surface, some portion of that delicate surface may adhere permanently to the sticky part of the note, and then become separated from the original after the note is removed. For example, I would NOT recommend sticking these directly to photographs, newsprint, or the pages of a library book. Good places to stick these notes might include glass windows, glass mirrors, a refrigerator, or the metal surface inside your locker at school. When you do stick these notes to paper, exercise care when peeling the notes off. Don't yank them off like a Band-Aid or you might just tear the paper it's attached to. Peel it off slowly. My own (entirely unexpected) application for these notes is that they make excellent "dental floss". Perhaps the use case is more like a dental floss "ribbon"? The product description certainly does not advertise it for this purpose, and if you choose to use the product in this way, only do so at your own risk. My own experience suggests that the clear plastic substrate of these sticky notes is stronger than most (thread-type) dental floss. I have experienced much success in this regard, and have made a habit of carrying a few of these sticky notes in my wallet, just for that purpose. Easy to write on. I used a gel pen & could see the page underneath easily, in order to trace. My gel pen dried fast on the surface / no smudging. Sticks easily & restocks several times before losing stickiness. Read more
Writes well but I’d use only pencil or pens that are not water-based. Not shown in the photos I included, but Sharpie (alcohol based marker) does not show up well and is extremely streaky. It is pretty transparent, it’s similar to tracing paper. Though they are more sturdy, being made of plastic and not extremely thin paper. Bad idea to write directly onto the pad, as the sheets up to about 5 pages (sheets?) afterwards have noticeable imprints from any previous writing. Even with pens with receptive inks they will take ~30 secs to dry and not smudge. I recommend using pencil, although the grey graphite does not “pop” the same way as a black ink pen does. Probably best to use a pencil if you are a lefty OR just tend to smudge ink easily. These are cool but I think they are VERY dependent on needed application on how much you’d enjoy them. I think the best way you could use these for is if you wanted to trace a diagram in a textbook you can’t highlight/mark OR you want to add sparse amounts of text on a textbook and you don’t want to mark it directly. Exactly as described. Great for school and book notation, but also great for art and crafts. Or games like dungones and dragons. Its very transparent. Has a gentle stickiness and barely has any opacity so it does not skew colors. Read more
I borrowed some textbooks from a friend and wanted to be able to write in them temporarily. These allow me to do that! I chose this set because it has different sizes including larger sticky notes. I primarily use the Pilot Frixion erasable pens and the pens write AND erase easily on these. Downside is, because they are clear, they have a bit of a sheen and plastic-feel so pens (at least my erasable ones) do not dry down very fast and therefore smudge easily. The transparency is not completely clear but it does not hinder reading the textbook page underneath whatsoever. Overall, would recommend, just maybe use pens that dry fast so is doesn't smear. They are great to write on and let you see through the sticky note, but no amount of drying keeps them from making a mark on the other side of the page as soon as you close the book or turn the page. See photo. Read more
Funny story, I actually used these Transparent Clear Sticky Notes Pads to cheat once during a test—just a one-time thing, I promise! I wrote down all of my notes and answers and stuck them on my computer screen. They worked perfectly, and I was able to keep everything in place without it falling off. While I’m out of school now and won’t be using them that way (learning to rely more on my studying and discipline), these sticky notes are fantastic. They’re waterproof, self-adhesive, and stay put exactly where you need them. I’d definitely use them again for organization or just quick notes. Highly recommend! Read more
