This is a convenient set of 2 - I have bought two sets so far, one for home so I can set up a second charging place for my iPhone and tablet without having to constantly move chargers, and the second set to keep in our RV so I don’t have to worry about remembering chargers. I love this charger, it charges my phone so fast. The only thing is now after about a year of having it out of nowhere it started to get really hot. I tried unplugging it for 24hrs but when I plugged it back in, it once again started to get super hot & then I noticed a burnt smell. This has only happened to one charger not both. I smelled something strange in the middle of the night and didn’t think anything of it. Well, I couldn’t sleep and it was 4 AM, so I texted my husband asking if he left the gas oven on or if he was cooking. He said, “No.” I start feeling sick when the oven or stove is on due to the fumes of the gas. So that’s why I thought it was that at first. All I smelled was a chemical smell, then started feeling sick, and my throat started to hurt. Like what happens when I smell the fumes of the gas stove/oven when we cut it on to cook. I’m super sensitive to fumes from fires and anything burning. I also have a great sense of smell, since having 3 kids my sense of smell has improved a lot. I was on the phone when the smell of burning chemicals became stronger. Luckily one of my friends called me at 5 AM. I heard a spark sound while on the phone and still smelled something burning!! I immediately checked my charger, due to the spark sound being so close. My laptop charger was plugged into the same surge protector, and it was not hot. However, the phone charger on BOTH ends of the cord, and the plug-in adapter were VERY HOT. I unplugged it from the surge protector and there are burn marks. The cord was melted into the adapter that plugs into the wall and there were burns inside of it too. I’m just lucky I caught it when I did and lucky it didn’t catch on fire. I’ve only had this since March. It was fine until now, however it was NOT the charger I was using on a daily basis until June. I have 2 of these. I ordered the pack of 2. So I will not be using the other one. DO NOT BUY!!!! This is a fire hazard. I hadn’t had my phone plugged in long before it started to get hot and burn. I also don’t keep it plugged in when not in use. It almost caught on fire and I’m lucky that I smelled it, couldn’t sleep, and heard it singe/spark while I was on the phone. Or else there would have been a fire right next to me while I was sleeping. I literally have my phone plugged in right next to me. I’m glad I’m using a surge protector, there’s no telling what could have happened if it had been directly plugged into my wall behind my bed. I usually sleep with ear plugs in, so I would have not heard the spark, had my friend not called me at 5AM knowing I was still awake. I knew there was a reason I couldn’t sleep. Read more
