Keeps the cats from getting in

AmazonCustomerSeptember 10, 2023

One of our more mischievous cats has recently learned how to open cabinets and get to his favorite treats. We needed to stop that from happening. In comes these childproof locks. I didn't have high hopes that the 3m strips would keep these locks attached to the cabinets but I also did not want to drill into the cabinets so I figured I would give these a try. They have a STRONG grip on the cabinets and I love how you can adjust the gap that is able to part before you deactive the securing mechanism. It's just a spring loaded tab on the door that locks into a plastic notch on the cabinet. The cat has yet to figure out how to beat it so I am super pleased with how well this has worked and met my needs. Read more

Low Lock-Hold Strength

Soares, Edgar BMarch 9, 2024✓ Verified purchase

Pros: Super easy installation Cons: A huge percentage (almost all of them) can be opened by any child (mine is just 1 year old) - this is the most important aspect of this product, as it is supposed to keep your child out of troublesome places in your house. My kid can open any of them in just a few tries, especially if he opens it rather fast. I've used locks like this in the past (we have three children now) and never had a similar problem before this one. Also, a small percentage of the locks lost adhesion and easily came out. Because they score low on the most important aspect of their product, their overall score is very low as a result. Read more

Works well, better products out there.

Sean ROctober 29, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Decent, if not screwed down tight enough, they eventually slide down on the screws and don't work. Sometimes they also flip UP and feel like they will break when correcting it. Read more

Brilliant, but need to be longer

HoneybeeSeptember 13, 2023

I host events in a facility that has cleaning chemicals under a sink in a common area. At our last gathering, we had to run interference with an inquisitive toddler. I realized that, for her sake and the safety of other little ones that use the same facilities, we needed to get some cupboard latches to keep them out of harm’s way. These can be installed either with the double-sided adhesive tape attached to the back of the latches and catches, or they can be screwed on for extra strength. With the adhesive, they’re relatively easy to install: You hold the latch against the door to figure out where to place it, and then peel the backing and stick it to the door. Close one cabinet door and open the other to determine where to place the catch. Then peel and affix it with the higher side facing out toward the door. These latches are brilliantly designed! To unlatch a cabinet, you open the door slightly so you can reach around the top and press down on the button. Then you open the door the rest of the way. The spring makes sure they latch back into place automatically when you close the door. My problem was that the interior surface to which I had to attach the catch was too far into the cabinet. The latch could reach and catch on it, but I couldn’t open the door far enough to press down on the button to release it. I ended up having to take it off. I did find out the adhesive is super-strong, because it was hard to remove the components once I realized this. If the hooked parts were about 1/2 inch longer, these would’ve worked perfectly. They’re great for cabinets that are thinner, but not for ones that you have to affix the catch to more than 1 inch deep. If they work for your cabinets, these are a good value, priced at under $1 per set, when buying in bulk. Read more

You need the screws

Katie S.September 25, 2023

I wanted to use these locks to keep my newly-mobile baby out of some drawers and cabinets. I tried attaching them to rough wood, smooth wood, and painted wood. On all surfaces, the catches fell off immediately. Some of the latches are still there, but what's the point if there's nothing for the latches to latch to? I'm glad they included screws in the set, because I'm going to need them. I just have to go figure out how to fit a drill into a dresser drawer space. The lack of adhesion was the main issue. However, I'm also a bit dissatisfied with the directions. They tell you everything you need to know, theoretically, but there's still a steep learning curve for installing and aligning the latches and catches. I quickly learned to make sure the cabinet/drawer can still close before making the adhesion permanent. You also have to be careful in how the catch and latch align, because sometimes the latch goes all the way behind the catch, or misses it entirely. If I can make them work, though, I think they'll be ok. The action on the latches is smooth, and I like the size. But, overall, I wish these hooks didn't cause such a headache. Read more

Great, but

ChristopherAugust 1, 2025✓ Verified purchase

These are sticky and do a great job protecting the cabinets from being dug through. They're not hard to remove, but you do have to install the hook and the latch part separately. If they aren't lined up just right, they won't open or close correctly. Toddler learned quickly how to open. Will need additional locks to keep her out. Read more

Install is easy, design and construction leaves something to be desired

BDSSeptember 22, 2023

The hook broke after a little use. Definitely not a good solution for a slow-close drawer. The adhesive is sufficient when fully set, but the weak point was the hook itself. Better than nothing, but definitely not the best solution. Read more
