I ordered this in a hurry when our regular stick lighter stopped working, so I didn't realize I was getting 1 rechargeable 'electric-prodder-like' lighter and 1 butane lighter. I thought it was both rechargeable ones. But when it arrived, my husband was so thrilled when he saw the butane lighter that he immediately went out to buy a can of refillable Butane just for it. And I have to say, I was impressed when he demonstrated it for me, the flame was STRONG, like a mini version of the flame torch we use to give the final sear to our steaks and creme brulee to. He has definitely commandeered that one now to use when he BBQs outside. No more worries about wind and rain killing the flame before the wood/charcoal/gas lights up! Pros: 1. Both goosenecks, much easier to light candles and stove with. 2. The Butane one is strong, will withstand almost any elements outdoors. 3. The Electric one works well and feels safer for me when it comes to lighting candles as there is no actual flame coming from it. 4. Easy to light, just switch it on and press the button. For the life of me, I don't know why, I struggle to use regular stick lighters that requires you to try to hold the gas release button down and then press the lighter button to start the flame, my previous ones always required a lot of finger strength and dexterity. 5. I only wanted a nice refillable butane torch/lighter and this set got good reviews. I've never used an electric wick lighter before, but this one is nice and works well. However, the butane torch was defective right out of the box. I followed the filling and lighting instructions to the tee. but no gas would come out. The flame adjustment knob on the bottom is very limited in its range and no position would allow gas to flow. Since I had nothing to lose, I started fiddling with it and discovered that the flame adjustment knob pulls off exposing the gas valve which can be adjusted with a screw driver. This isn't in the instructions anywhere. Regardless, I was able to get gas to flow and once the knob was pushed back on, the flow could be adjusted, but only minimally since there is a turn restrictor on the knob. Despite getting gas to flow, the lighter still would not light. I could actually use the electric lighter to light the butane lighter, but what a pain. After much messing around, I came to the conclusion it is either a bad design or the piezo igniter is too weak. It might light in 1 out of 15 or so tries. I only give it two stars because the electric lighter works well, but the butane torch is worthless. Update - Topkay does have an 18 month no-return replacement policy and I took advantage of that. Response was quick and a new set of lighters arrived within the week. The replacement gas lighter works great and lights every time with a strong flame. I know that most, may think these lighters or overpriced. However once I received them I was impressed with the quality. It has a large tank that holds a good amount of butane. The flame is adjustable and pinpoint. Lights easily. The other is electric type. Charging was easy and fast. A full charge lasts for a long time. Both lights have a flexible neck. Not to long not to short, I find them to be perfect for lighting stoves, lanterns, heaters, . The both have a nice weight to them. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. Read more
Had I known the lighter didn't come with gas I wouldn't have purchased it. This is useless to me unfortunately. I have no memory of it saying in the description that it doesn't come with fuel so that's my bad. But I can't review this product because again, it's useless to me and my impression is that it's unreliable so 1 star. Read more
