I really like these biodegradable straws because they’re flexible, sturdy, and don’t get soggy quickly. They work great for smoothies, juices, and iced drinks, and I love that they’re a plastic-free option that helps reduce waste. Read more

These 7.75 inch straws are opaque white. The length has fit into every drinking container that I have used. I love that there is no plastic. The straw can be in a container of water all day and does not degrade. So the biodegradable part must happen in a longer time. I will continue to buy them. Great product. Read more

[*UPDATE as of March 2025: This addendum applies specifically to the 10.25” item. In my most recent order of these longer straws, about 1/3 of them turned out to be defective — i.e., they contain tiny cracks that let in air bubbles, making them unusable. Hopefully this is a one-time factory glitch so I’ll probably order them again, but am now aware that this may happen.*] In terms of personal use, these straws are great -- strong, durable, easily bendable at the accordion-pleated joint, somewhat reusable (at least once after rinsing), and without any intrusive taste.... much better for the consumer than paper straws. In terms of biodegradability.... well, the jury's still out on that. According to the package these are made (in China) of modified cornstarch, and are listed as 'Compostable' by the US Composting Council and the Biodegradable Products Institute. So far, so good -- a Google search indicates both organizations are legit, and modified cornstarch can be processed into PLA (polyactic acid) which is a bioplastic. Bioplastics are generally safer and more compostable than traditional plastic, and emit fewer greenhouse gases throughout their lifetime. But unless subjected to very high heat at an industrial facility, it is believed that they may take months or years to biodegrade -- less than traditional plastic, but still not ideal. (For more info, Google 'bioplastic compostable'.) So while I do like these straws -- at least as an alternative to the traditional plastic or paper ones -- I can't vouch for how compostable or biodegradable they are. Verdict: Five stars, with some reservations. Read more

We have been trying every kind and brand of straw we could find to replace plastic, single-use straws. This is the only brand that really works! My daughter has an autoimmune disease with a disability with neurological and physical disabilities. She is on medications to suppress immunity. In order to give her independence and lower exposures, she needs disposable items but using plastic made her feel guilty. We tried paper straws but most dissolved or leeched dye. Then we stumbled on these in a recommendation from Amazon. These straws are amazing! You can’t tell they are plastic free. I have put them through the test. I left them in tea, coffee, soda pop juice and water for more than TWO DAYS and they were still intact. They even survived thirty seconds in the microwave and a day in the freezer. I used boiling hot coffee, cold liquids. These outperformed plastic! They still stayed intact for days. I was convinced after all that they could not be compostable. I was wrong. We buried them in the garden outside and they were sturdy for days and then poof, decomposing began. They come in a sturdy box, no extra plastic or paper wrapping around each straw. They are the same size as plastic, a milky white color and fit in our standard straw dispensers (we have top and side dispensing). Like plastic, they have the same same reposition-able and extendable bendy section that you can’t get in paper straws. They are sturdy enough to stir a drink with ice. They fit perfectly into our tumblers! I can’t understand why restaurants and hospitals don’t offer these! Read more

I'm so disappointed with Amaozon. I clicked on the "buy again" button for the straws I had ordered previously, which are 6 x 260 mm. But instead, I was sent a box of shorter straws. These straws are very important for my dad who is in home hospice and needs to drink nutritional smoothies. The short straws just don't work for that. What's the point of the "buy again" button, if you are going to be sent a different version of the product? These straws are very good. I recommend them. My problem is with Amazon and the failure to really "buy again" and Amazon sending me a different version of the product. Read more

I bought these because I wanted to feel like a good person while drinking my daily iced caramel macchiato — and let me tell you, mission accomplished. These KTOB compostable straws are the real MVP: they’re eco-friendly, bendable, and most importantly, they don’t melt into a sad noodle halfway through your drink like those paper straws that feel like wet cardboard with commitment issues. I handed one to my husband and told him it was compostable — he said, “But it feels like plastic!” EXACTLY. It feels like plastic, but it’s not. It’s like tricking your inner lazy human into being environmentally responsible. Plus, they bend like old-school straws, so you can do that dramatic lean-back sip from your couch like you’re in a soda commercial. It’s the little things. Bottom line: These straws make me feel smugly sustainable and keep my drink un-soggy. That’s a win-win. Buy them, sip guilt-free, and know you're one step closer to being the eco-queen (or king) you were meant to be. 🌍💁♀️🌱 Read more
