I am amazed by the quality, clarity and functionality of this mirror. I used this is a bathroom renovation, and although it was the least expensive, everyone comments on this mirror! I have it hardwired and it works independent of the main light switch. I've cleaned it several times (it's only been up for 35+ days) no scratches or distorted images. I have to tell you, I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of these mirrors! They are beautiful and very well made! They arrived well packaged, perfect and undamaged, despite FedEx's mission to destroy everything they touch! They are light enough to be manageable and installed by one person. Installation is simple, once you get your outlets installed where they're gonna go. Some advice... Don't expect that these will serve as adequate lighting for your bathroom by themselves, they do not project much light, and you will still need typical bathroom lighting fixtures. We installed this over our bathroom vanity and we could not be happier with it. The overall installation was extremely easy and it looks great. I have the mirror hooked to a Lutron Caseta Dimmer. The dimmer does not work to dim the mirror but it does turn it on/off. The mirror seems to hold the previous setting when it's turned off with the light switch so that seems to work well. There are a couple of things I wish they would change which would then cause me to give it 5 stars. 1. If you are not using a light switch, when the mirror is off, the buttons on the mirror are blue. Having this in our bathroom which is open to our bedroom, it is VERY bright at night. 2. I wish there was a way to make the Anti-Fog not come on automatically when you apply power using the switch on the wall. It doesn't really hurt anything but in our setup, we never need the anti-fog so it's just unnecessary to have it on. Maybe there are solutions to this but I could not find any. To be fair I did not tear the mirror apart and look at the power supply or transformer. Other than those two things, the mirror seems solid, the size is great for our setup and the light is bright enough and can be dimmed down to where it looks great. We are happy with the purchase. Do not hesitate to get this mirror! We got the 55x36 size for a shared bathroom, and could not be more pleased. The RGB colors are a novelty, but hey, the kids love it. The price cannot be beat. When we remodeled our main bath 5 years ago we looked into getting lighted mirrors, which were about $1800 at the time. Our mirror has the controls in the center, which I like. We had an electrician hard wire a plug behind the mirror so we can just plug it in, and added an off/on switch to the wall so the power (and the three lighted control buttons - white for on, blue for off) can be turned completely off. The mirror seems to lack a memory function so that when you turn it completely off at the wall switch and then back on, it will default to the defog, front light, and back light settings with all of them being on. I think the front light output is pretty substantial (at the whitest light setting), but if that is the only light in your bathroom you may need to add additional lighting since it is all forward-facing and not overhead. I like the fact that the back lights are soft enough to be used as a nightlight. Controls are easy to use. Cannot speak to the defog feature since we haven't used it yet, but it appears from the back of the mirror that only the very center of the mirror is heated (and thus defogged). Like some others said, the shipping packaging is pretty minimal, and the first mirror we ordered was damaged and returned without our ever laying eyes on it, and the second mirror was delivered by a very gentle UPS guy. The refund on the first mirror was prompt. Be sure to plug it in before you mount it, since it weighs about 50 pounds. The French cleat hangers it came with seems to be doing their job, but we had to swap out the flimsy anchors for some heavier-duty toggle bolts. All in all, a great fun feature that really brightens up a bathroom! We looked at unlit mirrors of a similar size that ran about $650 installed, so if you don't mind running a new plug behind or using an existing plug, this mirror will be cost effective. I was hoping it would look as nice as it does in others people's reviews and it does. This is a decent prices mirror that has some neat features built into it. I will say, I was hoping that this mirror would be bright enough that I wouldn't need ceiling lights but if your bathroom is decently sized the mirror won't be bright enough. So I had some dimmable LEDs put in. The mirror comes with a cord to plug into an outlet or you can hardwire it. I just had a new outlet put in behind the mirror and plugged it in. The lights are very cool. Not sure how often I'll use the rainbow function but it is definitely very stimulating to see once it's hung up. Not sure how long this mirror will last for but thankfully it has a warranty and if it ever breaks down it's easy to replace. To hang the mirror it comes with two skinny brackets. Find a stud and then the mirror just slides right onto it. I would definitely recommend this mirror. I just can't speak to how long it will last though. Hopefully a long time. Read more
