Many of the newer styles like these now have threaded fasteners at the top, instead of the hook type fasteners like they used to use. I liked those better as it was faster to lace them. Also, the shoe strings on these when tied at the top could touch your skin as the last lacing is up so high and the bow would be in the middle, which is slightly higher than the tongue of the shoe. None of this is a problem, as the price is great and they are made well enough. They have performed well in each situation I've given them, from digging down the base for a patio, to walking in the forest behind our house. All good. Size is true to size - I'm 7.5 and I got an 8 and it worked. They are comfortable and lightweight, yet durable. They look good on, too! Nice style. Read more

When I bought these, I thought they were great. But I only had these for 2 months before I had to throw them out. The bottoms wore out unbelievably quickly. I noticed my feet would get wet if I walked on wet asphalt, not even in puddles. When I looked, I found holes where most of my weight would have gone. When I threw them out, I was walking around on a rainy day, and not even 10 steps in my socks were soaked. When I took them off, the bottoms were completely separated. There doesn't seem to be a sole- it was just rubber then straight to the cloth part of the shoe where my foot is. Not recommended. I went to a shoe store while I was out with these and wore my new shoes out right away- I tossed these at the shoe store. And I didn't even use these for hiking. They were my work shoes, and I work at a bakery. You can get better shoes for the same price, or splurge for something better or nicer. Read more

These waterproof hiking boots are comfy right out of the box—no blisters. The size 7 fits my wife's feet well. The grip is awesome on muddy trails and rocky paths, and her feet stayed totally dry crossing streams. They’re lighter than her old boots but still feel supportive for long hikes. We love the quality of these shoes! Read more

I wore these for the first time in a trek around Europe- 11 cities, lots of hiking in paths in the Alps with steep climbs and descents, SO many stairs- and I didn't get a single blister and my feet were not sore. They are comfy and sturdy on even damp rocks. I would buy them again. Read more
