Great airline approved portable power station with 110v AC to boot
I have to say when I saw this slide into my recommendations from Amazon I ordered this without really any hesitation. There are a couple reasons, first I have several power stations ranging from 25 kWh down to 27k mAh ones for travel. I've never owned or even seen a unit that combined both in a compact package. I also have a number of ZoupW solar panels and they are some of my best performing ones. I've even had to reach out to them on a warrantee issue for one and they took care of it within 2 or 3 days. So when I saw this, like I said I ordered no hesitation. I'd lie if I didn't say I've been eagerly waiting on this to arrive. Well when I got an early Xmas present and Amazon delivered it a day early I was thrilled. I ripped into that like a 10 year old Xmas morning and plugged it in to charge up, then read the manual. This is where I was first surprised and kind of relieved. You see there was, to my surprise, no required app to install. It's a “dumb” device that works without all the unnecessary overhead. I started by plugging this sucker into another power station capable of 140w charging to see how much it would take. While the ZoupW showed 85-87w my charging unit was showing 96. My unit started right around 50% and didn't take terribly long to reach 100% on the display. I noticed though the other power station was showing ~20w load still. I let it sit like that for another 30 min or so and saw it dropped to a 7w load and eventually to 0w after nearly an hour. So if you really want this unit topped off be sure to leave it plugged in a bit longer. Now for the fun stuff, I found a HEPA filter in my house with 4 speeds and power draws (30, 50, 80 & 100 respectively). After turning on the AC mode I checked the voltage and was quite surprised to see it was only 111-112v but the sine wave was nice and uniform. No square wave tops like I've seen on some other mini units. At first I was concerned about the low voltage but everything I tried worked fine. The HEPA unit operated normally except it ran about 10% slower and in watts peaking at 92w. Other devices and chargers all worked fine as they appeared to be designed for 100-240v input. This unit is very similar in size to my other brick style airplane approved power stations. In my image I've got it next to EcoFlows flagship unit. This is just a bit larger but offers nearly the exact same capacity and has the optional 110 output. The ZoupW feels really solid and well built and I really like the see-thru design. For the price I'm not sure if I was in the market if I'd have chosen the EcoFlow. I do love the retractable cord on that but it's not without its quirks. None of which I've noticed on this unit. Aside from the charging to 100% item mentioned the only thing I was disappointed to learn in my testing (not that ZoupW ever claimed it would do mind you) is that when powering an AC load if you plug in a USBC charger it immediately kills power to the AC ports and you can't turn them back on until you stop charging. It would have been nice if it could do both simultaneously. Then this unit could have been used as a small portable UPS. I mention it in case someone is considering buying this for such a purpose.
