I bought this pack because it was a great price for Civ 5, and I had heard good things about the game. I was hooked on Civ 3, but didn't care for Civ 4. Civ 5 fixed a lot of the things I didn't like about Civ 4, and is an all-around good game if you are looking for a turn-based grand strategy. You can definitely get caught in the "one more turn" trap and find yourself playing for hours beyond your intentions. The real surprise for me was XCom. I bought this game simply because it came with Civ 5 at a steal. I was hooked from the start. The way you command the entire XCom project is really neat. The interface is very streamlined and easy to use. Every part of the project is equally important and they all complement one another. Character development is very important, but not overly complex. It is easy to get attached to some of your soldiers and it is tough when you lose them. Teamwork is absolutely critical, you will find yourself carefully selecting squad members and outfitting them according to their roles as you intend them. XCom deserves all the praise that it receives. Rarely do I find the time to play through a game to completion, but I played this through in a few weeks and immediately started another game for more. Had no idea that I would need to go through the BS of installing an internet based "guardian" in order to use the game. I am not satisfied. I wanted a CD/DVD copy so that I could install it and uninstall whenever I got the urge. The install process took over an hour since the crappy Steam servers were not available. I definitely do not recommend anyone else buy this crap! Read more

Did not know the game had to be downloaded. Did not know I had to give Steam so much control over my computer. Did not know I would use up my data cap for a month just for one game. Did not know my hard drive would crash and destroy my computer. Read more

The game it's self for civilization 5 is crap compared to what civilization 4. The way the system work isn't that fun. Xcom is a great game. I haven't played it on this because I already had it for the xbox and beat it. It's also great that you get 2 disc with it. Although it makes you have to download steam which isn't bad but you shouldn't have to go to another site to download. It makes me think that the discs were just codes or something and if that is the case why not just download them directly? Overall if you want a good price for both of the games this is worth it. I'm a strategy fan and enjoy both games a lot. But I already owned Civilization V and assumed I'd get a giftable copy or could just enter one of the two game keys. Nope...it comes with a single key for both games and it basically ignored the extra Civ V copy I bought in the past. Their help pages say this, but it still feels like they're stealing by not offering a giftable copy of the original game I bought. Read more

This package deal was an excellent deal for me. As a longtime strategy game player I have enjoyed countless hours on every Civilization game ever made as well as enjoyed the very first XCOM (way back when it was released). Either of these games was well worth the $8.75 ($13.95 with shipping) that I paid for it. Civilization V is a well thought out continuation of a long line of solid strategy games. Withstanding some adjustments (for the better) of the combat system Civilization V continues to provide a fairly familiar experience to previous Civilization games. XCOM Enemy Unknown has also been an excellent game, the very first play-through is both challenging and exciting as a reasonably decent premise unfolds. Additional play-throughs benefit immensely from the available second wave options and additional settings (specifically ironman). Overall I would not have regretted a thing if I had paid $20 for either game which makes getting them both for just under $14 a great deal. Read more
