This camera works pretty good, I haven't connected the back camera though. I had another camera that used the same app and I could never get it to connect, so I was a little worried when I saw that it used the same app, but it works pretty good so far. It won't automatically connect though, so I do need to connect it every time. You also have to be connected to view any of the photos, but I think there is an option to automatically download the images. I've been looking for a dash cam for when my kid starts driving, because people around here just don't care and if something were to happen we will have video to see what actually happened. The camera is small, and it plugs into the obd plug so it has power when the vehicle is off, which was new to me. My 12v plugs turn off so I was wondering how it was supposed to do the crash sensing when parked, because it doesn't appear to have an internal battery. It also came with a tool to remove the trim to hide the cords, and a USB to plug the SD card into. The camera lenses come with a protective plastic and the little red tab on it is wedged between the lense and the body of the camera, so I can't get the red tab removed. It isn't in the way of anything, but it is definitely noticeable because it is red. Read more
The recording quality is pretty good on this dash cam, and it was relatively easy to set up and install. I like that it can automatically detect motion and start recording on its own for unattended monitoring. This seems like it will work well for my kiddo's vehicle. I was looking for a way to make sure we have proof in case anything were to happen, as it often does with young drivers. Recommend, I hope that this helps. Read more
Right off the bat, this dashcam gets at least a star, if not 2, for lack of installation instructions. luckily, I’ve previously installed some dashcams in my vehicles, so I had some inkling of ow to go about things, but someone who has never done that is going to be SOL out the gate with this dashcam. Yet another star gets knocked off, which is in relation to the lack of instructions above, because the cameras certainly have a correct and incorrect orientation, which is not clearly marked on either the front or rear camera. This would be fine if the app had the simple feature of rotating the image like just about any other camera software I’ve use, yet alas, this one won’t allow you to do that. A final, third, star is getting knocked off because the camera also did not save my initial password change, so it was denying me access the first time I tried to get in to it. Luckily, they start you with probably the least secure password possible of “12345678”. Otherwise, I would have been SOL getting into the camera again. Now that I’ve got those out of the way, I can say that the camera has decent quality out of the front camera, though the rear definitely leaves something to be desired. On the whole, I don’t think that the middling video quality makes up for my other complaints, and would recommend looking at other products. Read more
First, no instructions just a QR code to download an app. Installed app and tried to get camera connected multiple times and finally after it did connect, the connection only lasted for about 5 seconds and then it drops connection. From what I could see in that short connection window the picture is very poor. I also don't like that it is connected to the obd port in my car and has a bulky motion sensor that would just sit on the dash. Very poor design. App is poor, connection is unstable at best. I wanted this for my daughter as she just started driving but I can't have something so unreliable to keep her protected. Definitely don't buy. Read more
I needed another dash cam for my car. I have one that was super simple to install so I figured that this one would be the same as well but I was wrong. It was so complicated to install. First of all the directions are not specific at all. You pretty much have to guess because the pictures they give you for installation is so small you cannot see them. Then I had to google where to plug in the camera because it was not a USB to plug it in. It is one that you plug in under your steering wheel, I don't even know the name of it. Once I plugged it in then I had to download the app and it showed you some ways to install it. Then tucking it in underneath the rubber on the frame was a PAIN. I literally almost could not do it, I had to get my husband to hold it open and then me use the tool ( that was included) to shove the wires behind the rubber. That was not an easy task as it shows in the video, it doesn't work like that at least not for me. Then trying to figure out how to put the camera on the frame thing to where it wasn't upside down. Then it comes with a back camera ( I am assuming) that has a long wire that plugs into the front camera and then a red wire that isn't hooked to anything. I does not have any USB or anything to plug it into in the back of your vehicle. SO you would have to run the wires all the way from the front to the back and that was a HUGE PAIN to just run the little bit from under the steering wheel to above the rearview mirror. I wasn't running that wire all the way to the back. The picture is nice and clear on the app but its not worth all the trouble. I would buy a different brands and get the same video quality then deal with all of this trouble installing it with not good instructions at all. Read more
I'm happy with this camera. It was quick to get it going, and I love how you can connect to it with the phone to easily save, edit, and share clips. To be clear, I have several dash cams, and this one is midgrade quality, low grade first time user instructions, high grade for the constant power from the obd port. For the price it's perfect for a kids car to CYA. If you haven't learned all the odd ways they expect you to navigate and use a chinese dash camera from prior experience, you'll hate it. Not a good first dash cam in my opinion. If you can figure it out though, this cam is an outstanding value compared to others. Read more
