They're tough and large but they work great
Plugged it in, told Hue to go find it... which it did, and I added a schedule. Waited for the time and it switched on as expected. It works! There's no way to tell them apart, like a MAC ID, so for convenience you should name them with a Sharpie, where it's only visible when unplugged if you like. As I was about to recycle the packaging, I found the instructions in the bottom of the box. They're very detailed for setting up these with hubs from Amazon Echo, Samsung SmartThings, Philips Hue, eWeLink, or any other ZigBee 3.0 hub supporting Alex or Google Assistant. Yes, you need a hub. These are ZigBee devices, not WiFi. A hub is needed and not included. You may already have one, so save yourself a headache and check if you do before ordering these. These are built tough, a hard thick plastics case. It is close to 2" wide so you can't put two of these into a US standard dual outlet, but the other outlet will be free and clear for even an large plug, which leads me to point out that... It's FCC and CE marked for compliance, but not UL tested or UL listed. The relay inside is rated and designed for a maximum of a 10A resistive load (lights, light electronics). If you're going to go against the manufacturer rating by switching any motor (like a fan, or heater w/blower) you should limit those to 1/3 the rating. Do not consider switching a higher duty motor (such as fridge w/compressor, or a pump.) Read more
