We have cats. Must I say more? So impressed was I with our first air purifier, installed recently in the bedroom of our home, that I selected this second, higher capacity, unit for our living room. Seemed like mission impossible, what with the feline stink load, but this capable unit chose to accept, and has not yet self destructed. Seriously, this purifier is equipped with sizeable enough HEPA and activated carbon filtering to give it a fighting chance at getting our air quality issues under control. Besides the obnoxious smell, our inside air also has a characteristic that results in what appears to be grey soot deposits on the wall wherever air tends to circulate--by heaters, etc. One side-effect of these deposits is a tendency for them to delineate the nail heads covered by plaster and paint, perhaps by some type of magnetic interaction. Weird, huh? I've always believed these characteristics are likely the result of exhaust-related residue circulating in the air from outside to inside our home--possibly from train and bus diesel fumes? I have now been instilled with the sincere and realistic hope that this new purifier will provide some level of protection and relief from those effects. The control panel of this unit is simple to understand and use. There is an automatic control locking feature included that would be useful in a home with young children. Cats don't push many buttons (controller-wise) so that feature is mostly lost on my wife and I. So far disabling that feature doesn't seem to be an option but I'll update this review if I find out otherwise. As it is, I must unlock the control panel with an extended button press to adjust fan and light settings. No biggie. We've found that the lowest two settings are very quiet, with the 2nd providing enough air flow to serve our purposes during the day. Since it's our living room purifier one of the higher two, louder, selections works well at night to increase the volume of air purified while nobody is in the room. There's an auto setting that at first seemed perfect: noise and airflow were low, with a happy green LED indicator suggesting all was well. After the first couple hours of operation the poor machine must have sensed the extent of its task and kicked into high gear, indicator LED going red and fan kicking into high. That mode has remained in high alert ever since, so for now we simply choose not use that mode. As for built-in lights, there are several options. No lighting is one. Another is an innocuous blue internal glow visible from above, which I prefer. There's also the option of turning on an illuminated ring at the purifier's top, using either cool or warm white color. Depending upon where it's positioned the purifier could double as a lamp. While there is no doubt in my mind that the air in our living room has improved in quality thanks to the filtering of this purifier, the only way to know the degree to which the unpleasant smell has lessened is to enlist the help of an outsider whose brain has not acclimated to the background "catroma"--in short, a subject without "nose blindness." We had a family member perform that function and the result was positive, if not amazing. Miracles of the scale needed here are rare indeed, but we can still hope and will continue to let this hard working little canister give its all toward the desired end. Meantime I am now seriously considering tackling the room painting that has gone neglected for decades due to the inevitability of the sooty deposit buildup. A fresh coat of paint would provide the perfect starting point to actually SEE the benefits of this lung-fortifying purifier. I got this 3 in 1 air purifier a few months ago. At first I really loved it. I would have given it 5 stars. I had it in a rather large bedroom that I shared with 2 dogs. The improvement in air quality and smell was noticeably improved. My dogs are paper trained and at night I keep them in my room with the door shut. The machine worked well and the ability to add essential oil helped camouflage the odor when they just did there business s as nd it helped remove the odor. I’ma smoker and it helped with that scent as well. It was quiet too. I wake up at the slightest noise and was able to sleep easily with this running. It put out a little light, but not to brute. If didn’t disturb my rest, and helped me see when I woke up and needed to leave my room in the middle of the night to use the restroom. Turning on the overhead light wakes me to much. I have difficulty falling back to sleep when I turn the bright light provided by my ceiling fan. I have difficulty walking and the light from this was just enough to se around my room when the fan light was off without being to much and making it more difficult to fall asleep. This air purifier is awesome! It cleans the air in my living room super fast, and I can actually tell a difference in how fresh it feels. I love the sleep mode – it's practically silent, so it doesn't disturb my sleep at all. Plus, it's got a night light and an aroma diffuser, which is a cool bonus for the bedroom. Keeping it running is easy too, just swap out the filter every few months. Definitely a great way to get cleaner, fresher air in your home! Read more

This machine works great with some perks, like an L.E.D light that is very bright and could be used as a small lamp. The other is an oil diffuser aroma pad for essential oils , but the one I got did not come with one. The fan speeds has pretty good settings from nice and quiet to somewhat loud, but not to loud. Has a U.V light as well for catching certain types of elements in the air. The machine worked great for me, until till the filter got black, which was in about 3weeks. So it was time to change it, but however they don't sell the filters ( yet? ) for the machine. Now I am stuck with a machine that I cannot use, and deciding either to keep it or just throw it out. I would not suggest buying this air purifier machine until they start getting or making replacement filters, and aroma pads for it. The other very annoying thing IMO is the child safety lock, that thing would just not stay off. No matter what you try to adjust on it, you have to turn it off before you can change anything on it.
