This is 8 oz of 3_&1 oil, which is FAR larger than the “normal “ 1 or 2 oz size I used before. Since I’ve been around for awhile, I have used 3&1 oil for over 70 years. Yep, I used it when I was virtually a small kid. Why? Because my dad used it. He called it sewing machine oil, and my mom used it for her old Singer sewing machine. Yeah, that was a long time back. Then, it was the only oil we used to prevent rust and lubricate everything in the house or garage.It was the same for all my friends. I used it on guns, toys, tools, the lawn mower, knives, sharpening stones, garage doors, the swamp cooler, metal windows, and just about anything that was metal and didn’t move correctly. I also coated metal to stop rust, especially on tools. A couple of drops on the tool, wipe it all over, then take a rag and wipe it off leaving a trace of oil on tool to prevent rust. I never have to use a lot because it works very well. Now our civilization has invented a bewildering array of lubricants that are pushing out the “old” stuff. Well, I’ve used nearly every one of those new lubricants and I can’t tell much difference from 3&1 oil. WD 40 sprays on and dries after a while which is convenient and really good for areas that are hard to reach. I used newer products to protect the top of my table saw, because oil comes off on the wood, and machinery that will collect dirt or debris on oiled areas, or areas where the oil will run off and make a mess somewhere else, or in special cases like cutting oil, but for overall use on everyday items I still use 3&1. Tip if oilcan somehow punctured the shipping box & leaked out. Someone just put a piece of tape over the hole. Ended up post office held & i had to run to get it cuz it was damaged & leaking. I know this oil is a good product & a replacement oil can is being shipped Read more
the picture on Amazon shows a different bottle than the one delivered. Mine came that you clip a bit off the top without an extra top to close. So I wrapped a bit of aluminum foil around the top. This is not secure enough if it tips over because it will leak possibly creating a mess. I think 3in1 should get their act together, spend the xtra Penney and offer only 3in1 that has a little snap on top. Amazon picture should only represent the items sold. Read more
