Of all the third-party Blink camera mounts available, this design is perhaps the simplest and most elegant. Rather than completely replacing the mount that was supplied with the Blink camera, this model has a slot which accepts the base of the standard mount, essentially like a pocket. The mount can easily be slid out of the holder if you need to change the camera’s battery or clean the lens. Unfortunately, and as others have already mentioned, the adhesive on these mounts does not seem to hold up in hot weather, which is certainly an issue for outdoors installations. It appears that the adhesive being used is not 3M VHB but rather a much poorer-performing knock-off. A permanent installation on a wall, etc. can be achieved by completely peeling off the adhesive from the backside of the mount and then affixing the mount using epoxy glue. I used J-B KwikWeld Quick Setting Steel Reinforced Epoxy (available on Amazon as well as most home improvement retail stores), securing the mount in position using painter’s tape while the glue cured overnight. The tape was then removed and the mount was ready for use. Also note that the base of the original camera mount may not fit firmly into the pocket and can slide around slightly. To create a snug fit, I cut and trimmed the lid from a plastic soup container to make a thin flexible plastic spacer. I placed this into the pocket as a backing before inserting the original camera mount base, and the loose fit problem was solved. In summary, if you need a reasonable Blink camera mount and are willing to take on a minor DIY project with epoxy glue for a durable outdoor installation, this product fits the bill. Read more
