This light is very bright at 5400 lumens of 6000K white light. However, I was surprised by the size when it arrived; at only 15 inches across it's much smaller than the product photos suggest. The pictures are honestly a bit misleading, making it appear like it would illuminate an entire garage or large workspace. In reality it's better suited for spot lighting a specific workbench area rather than a whole room. The 6.6-foot cord with the convenient on/off switch is a practical feature I appreciate. My other concern is the plastic housing – for a workshop environment where durability matters, I wish they had used metal construction instead. Plastic feels less robust and makes me question its long-term durability in a busy garage setting. Good light output, but manage your expectations on size and build quality. Read more

At the time of writing, this shop light is listed at $10.99 - and this low cost definitely plays a strong roll into my 5 star rating. For the price, I think you're getting something quite nice - but there are noticeable areas where corners were cut to save on production costs (which I think should be obvious at this price, and they seem to have accurately described the product - which is why I don't think it merits any star deductions). The main body of this light is surprisingly lightweight, being made almost entirely of plastic - in the long run, this might lower the lifetime of the light, as heat dissipation is critical for longevity. I ran it for a little over an hour during my testing, and the light settled at a high temperature of just over 113 F in my 65F air temperature house, and was pleased to see that the product has a sticker that accurately stated the temperature range the light housing would reach. The light it produces is good, but maybe on the cooler end of the daylight spectrum. It would be reasonable for lighting up a desk or small work area and has a nice flood pattern. I plan on installing it in my barn, where I do a lot of 3D printing and laser engraving - and I'm positive it will work sufficiently for this purpose. Even after 1 hour of continuous operation, the lighting quality stayed consistent. There is a slight strobiness to the light - it's not easy to resolve with my eyes (and I typically can see strobing on cheaper LEDs), but fast movements make it more apparent. While the light isn't without faults, I think it's a great deal for the $10.99 price it's currently listed at - I wouldn't have felt disappointed paying this much for it. Read more

Need a small workshop light? Don't be tricked and order this "Black Light Bar". I ordered thinking this was just such a small workshop light. But on opening the Amazon box saw on package that this is actually a "Black Light Bar". Neato... but last time I wanted a black light was during my on-campus dorm days. Time for Amazon return. Good thing I was curious about how good a "black light" this mis-ship was and took it out of the package to try. Because this is the small workshop light ordered... but it is also a "black" colored "light bar". Don't be tricked by the packaging label and color scheme. Now, how is this as a "black" workshop light? For the size, it's pretty good. Has great total light intensity and coverage. I have it pointed upwards and it floods the entire room (approx. 12'x15'). The cool white light is very comfortable, especially as it's indirectly reflected off the ceiling. Weight-wise, this is a very light light. That's due to it being almost completely made of plastic (obviously not including the electronics parts) except... oddly... the mounting hinges. Those are metal. Metal hinges is good actually. Instead of screwing installing, since I have metal shelfs and lots of magnets, was able to attach using magnets. Which means, if needed, can wave this around and use this as an impromptu hand held light bar. NOTE: on more serious note, between the box and the label it does look like this was originally an black (eg UV) light bar that got re-manufactured as a shop light. Read more

First and foremost, this light is extremely bright! If you’re just looking for something to light up a room or workspace and don’t have sensitive eyes, this will do the trick. However, if you (like me) have somewhat sensitive eyes, then you’ll want a diffusing layer covering the LEDs. As I previously stated… they are BRIGHT!!! And the bare, un-diffused LEDs are each like a truck with its high beams pointed in your rear view mirror. I’m still trying to figure out a material with which to diffuse the light so that I can be a little more comfortable with the diodes in my peripheral view, but for the time being I have it installed in my attic and it’s working fine. A few other notes: - The housing of the light is made of plastic. It gets quite hot when it has been running for a while, so please make sure not to touch it. - It includes mounting hardware, so you can mount it to wood or drywall - The power cord is a little thin, but since it should only be pulling 40w, it should suffice. - Once more: it is very bright. Overall - I would recommend this light if you don’t have sensitive eyes like me, or if you’re fine with creating your own diffusion layer to make the diodes a little less piercing. Read more
