Weary of low end plastic mats for my carpeted office, I purchased this tempered glass version. The 3’x4’ size was ideal for my office. My office chair rolls on the glass like it’s on ice. The tempered glass is easy to install once you get it unpacked. It is robustly packed and arrived in perfect condition. It appears very durable, is crystal clear and the sale price made it a must have for me. Even the best cheap plastic mats crack over time on carpet. This mat will not. There is an unmarked brown envelope on the packaging. It contains a series of round clear silicone self adhesive feet. They went flying around the room when I opened the envelope so use care when opening. Even the smallest 3’x4’ chair mat is quite large in the package. It may require 2 people to take a larger one to a second floor. Very happy with product. It looks great, is performs well and I hope it’s the last one I ever buy. Read more
Fed up with spending well over $150 a year on Polycarbonate floor mats, which say they can support 300lbs + and they do and can - for about a year, then they split/crack where the wheels of my chair are - we have deep pile carpet in my officeand I am over 200lbs and my chair is around 100 lbs so the 300lb limit is probably exceeded. So I took the plunge (after 6 years of buying new mats each year) and bought this fantastic glass chair mat. Its great, it feels very strong, the beveled edges make it easy to roll my chair off and back on the mat. Ive had it now for over two months and its just mazing - the chair glides much smoother than on the Polycarbonate mats, and it also looks great. Read more
I can't express enough how happy I am with this new glass chair mat vs. a previous *thick* vinyl chair mat of the exact same size this glass mat replaced! Like night and day having a rigid surface to walk and roll the chair on, vs. the vinyl which continuously deforms. The room is carpeted. That previous mat was pretty much the best and most expensive vinyl mat out there when I bought it, 1/8 inch thick with rug grippers. Even so after several years the middle section had lots of cracks and chunks were even falling out. It wasn't until I used this glass mat that I realized even when new that vinyl mat was deforming a bit under the chair wheels, making it harder to roll around. I'm leaving the 5-star review even though, as many have noted, the outer box packaging is inadequate. Showed up with big sections torn out since it is only a single-wall box for something this heavy. The UPS driver had even left a mea culpa note saying he had written in their notes the box was shredded. BUT... the god news... the inner packaging around the glass mat is as good as the outer packaging is bad. That saved it. Heavy press-board rails with a thick rubber strip around all 4 glass edges. Then thick heavy foam material over both glass faces. The inner packaging came through just fine. I have a theory. In China the mat and the inner packaging are probably one company, the manufacturer, but then that goes to another company to add the outer box for transport. Company #2 dropped the ball, apparently. Long story short, don't let the bad packaging on the outside stop you from purchasing, but do take photos when it arrives in case something has happened to the inner packaging. A note about the beveled edges. I was having the hardest time deciding between buying this glass mat and another similar one on Amazon without beveled edges, but was less money. In the end I decided that since I walk around with bare feet , having a non-beveled edge would be uncomfortable. I can see I was exactly right. :) I'm sure the edge on the other glass mat is rounded and not a danger in terms of cutting a foot, but still it is a 1/4 inch bump to walk on that this mat doesn't have. This one sinks into the carpet enough that I don't even feel that edge with bare feet. As far as sturdiness goes, I'm a large guy and I even have two table legs on the mat (although using the kind of coasters with carpet on the bottom, so as not to scratch). Works great. If this glass mat hasn't broken with me it probably won't with you, either. :) I'm using the typical 5 leg office chair, but long ago I replaced the standard hard plastic wheels with the rubber tipped kind rated for 350 lbs dynamic load each (3 inch wheels, from Amazon here). The plastic 2 inch wheels would always eventually break on me until years ago I started replacing them with the higher-weight-rated wheels. Added benefit of the rubber on them. In summary, every single time I walk on this hard-surface glass mat or easily roll my chair around in it I just smile, comparing it to the vinyl mat that this one replaced. So much better. Worth every penny of the cost. Read more
Works great! Shipped really well and is the perfect size for my desk. Not flimsy like the plastic ones. Pricey, but worth the investment! Read more
48x52” tabbed. Excellent desk chair mat. Delivered quickly. Packing was superb to completely protect the glass during shipping. It is heavy to move around. My wife and I were able to carry it up a flight of stairs (still in the box) with no problem, but I don’t think I could have by myself. The beveled edges are a “game changer” and definitely worth it. The chair rolls right back on if you roll too far back off the edge and no toe stubs on the edge. The tabbed end is great since I sit close to my desk and the chair wheels extend underneath and stay on the glass. The chair wheels roll on it nicely. I thought about upgrading my chair wheels to the sleek rollerblade type wheels as advised on some reviews, but my 20-year old chair’s “old-school” flat type wheels work great on the glass. The glass does not move around on the carpet at all and the glass does not bow or dip. I can’t believe I waited this long to switch from the plastic type of mat. I absolutely love this chair mat and it looks great in my study. It is expensive. It took me several weeks to convince myself to spend that much on a chair mat, but I am glad I did! Read more
I didn’t know how tempered glass on carpet would feel walking and rolling on. But turns out it’s perfectly stable and firm under foot, and the chair rolls so smoothly, yet controllably. For reference, the chair is from the 50’s/60’s and has hard rubber wheels. Yes, as always, be careful when sitting on your rolling chair, but I was relieved when it didn’t feel like I was on an ice rink (!) - actually very easy to do. The mat is beautifully made, and the patented edge bevel is much safer (and more attractive) than non-beveled. Also, I had a question for customer service, and Hiram answered the phone after only a few rings, and took care my question quickly and professionally. He was also a nice guy who appreciates their customers. This purchase was a great experience all the way around. Read more
Works well but slippery if you are wearing only socks. Does a great job over the plastic ones. It does creep slightly over time and needs to be adjusted back into position. Looks great after 9 months, much better than plastic Read more
