Because my car's aftermarket head unit runs Android Auto but doesn't have a USB port with enough power to charge my phone, I want a portable powered USB hub that doesn't require an AC adapter. This is one of the few hubs that meet my requirements. I am dismayed that not all the ports are USB 3, but each port, whether USB 2 or USB 3, has been measured to output up to 1A. That should more or less keep my phone charged on very long drives. Though I don't know the amperage limit of the USB C port, I connected a phone, a mostly charged tablet, and a mostly charged power bank to the hub, and I measured 1.6+ amp of current going into the hub. I take this as a sign that the hub will allow me to charge two devices at the same time. Pro tips: 1. When the hub doesn't get external power, Android Auto can launch seamlessly. When the hub is externally powered, I need to go into my Pixel 7's Settings, search for USB Preferences, and manually select "Use USB for File Transfer / Android Auto" before Android Auto will connect. 2. When the hub doesn't get external power, Android Auto seems to connect no matter what port I use for my phone. PS4 only has 2 USB ports on their consoles and when you are running a external drive for more storage (Call of Duty games are large as well as their upgrades and patches) and then you are using the other for a cordless headset you have no more space. So I bought this to see if I can #1. Leave my headset plugged in to charge and #2 not have to unplug to use the USB to operate the headset (gamers would know what I am saying). So now I can charge 2 headsets at the same time and I tried to leave the plug in that connects the headset to the console. I found that having the 2 plugs that connects the headset(s) (whichever 1 you're using) the other interferes with it. So you can charge 2 headsets at the same time but the USB plug in that connects the headset to the console, only 1 can be plugged in and the other, well leave it sitting on top of your PS4 until you are ready to use the other headset. Sounds confusing but it helps in 1 way but not the other at this point. If I try to use both headsets at the same time and play a splitscreen game, I will make a update to this if it works. It’s great. Got it for my older car, so I can charge my phone at the same time as other things. It’s well made, and fits in my little utility compartment. I like that this one has a short cable, but would dislike that same thing, if I was using it on a computer. Very nice for the price. Read more
